Getting involved
There are a number of ways to get involved in this project. All the project activities have been approved by ethics committees at both the University of Edinburgh and Monash University.
Participating in research activities
We are currently recruiting both trainee teachers and service teachers to participate in using TRAC for teaching reflections and to join a follow-up interview (one-to-one or group). Please get in touch with Ms Ana Hibert to express your interest of participation.
TRAC: TRAC Log is a tool for teacher reflection on their agency for change used in research and professional inquiry projects to understand how teachers use and build their support networks to address complex challenges in education such as inequality, inclusion of increasingly diverse student populations, sustainability or disruptions and crisis. As part of the current project, we invite participants to complete a minimum of two logs. Please access TRAC for this project here: https://reflective-teacher.net/covid/
A short tutorial video about TRAC:
*Information about current and past projects that have used TRAC is available here.
Interview: In addition to using the reflective log, TRAC, we invite participants to join a 60-minute one-to-one or group interview. In this activity, we will seek feedback on the experience using the TRAC log for teaching reflections. We will also ask participants a number of questions related to providing teaching and support to students during the time of COVID-19. Relevant topics include challenges encountered during teaching, the change that teachers made, the support teachers received to continue teaching, and technology-assisted feedback. Where face-to-face interviews are not feasible or not preferred by participants, we will use Zoom (a university-sponsored video conferencing application) to conduct the meetings.
Co-designing a virtual internship for teachers
We will conduct co-design workshops at the end of the project. In these workshops, we will share research findings and invite participants to contribute ideas that may help us design a virtual internship that can support the development of teachers as agents of change. The targeted participants are trainee teachers and service teachers, but we welcome anyone interested in learning about the research findings of this project. We expect to conduct the workshops in the last quarter of Year 2021. If you are not able to participate in the research activities described above but would like to be part of this co-design activity, please get in touch with the project team.
Research collaboration & dissemination
If you are interested in collaborating with us to develop the project ideas further or hearing more about the project from us, please get in touch with the project team.
