My 2011 has the basic headunit that doesn't support a reverse cam, and I don't want to replace it with some cheapo android headunit (and can't afford a nice headunit!) so I've made my smartphone display the reverse camera feed.

There was a lot of debugging to get it to work, and I had to write a custom app, but it works! I can be driving along with my phone in the dash mount displaying google maps, then when I go into reverse gear, the camera feed is superimposed overtop of whatever else is happening on the phone, and then you go back into neutral, the camera feed disappears again.

I am not sure that backing up to a Micro SD card would be interesting for me since it will likely be quite slow. I am presently using a portable computer to backup from a Lexar 2000X UHS-II card to an external SSD and it is extremely fast.
