Q: When will the free backpacks and school supplies be distributed?
A: Backpacks and school supplies will be distributed on Saturday, August 8, beginning at 10:00 A.M. and concluding at 2:00 P.M.
Q: Does anything at this event cost money?
A: No. All activities, food, entertainment, backpacks, and school supplies are provided free of charge.
Q: Must a child be present to receive a free backpack and school supplies?
A: Yes. Each child must be present and may receive one backpack with school supplies while quantities last.
Q: Do I need to pre-register to receive a backpack?
A: No. Registration will take place on-site beginning at 10:00 A.M.
Q: Do I need to bring any documentation?
A: No documentation is required.
Q: Who is eligible to receive a backpack and school supplies?
A: Students in Kindergarten through 12th Grade who attend public school, private school, or are homeschooled are eligible.
Q: Are clear backpacks available?
A: Yes. A limited number of clear backpacks will be available while supplies last.
Q: Is there a limit to the number of backpacks a family may receive?
A: There is no set family limit; however, each child must be present to receive a backpack. Distribution is on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.

A: The event will be held at: Southern Oaks United Pentecostal Church, 6501 S. Walker Avenue Oklahoma City, OK 73139
Q: Is the event wheelchair accessible?
A: Yes. The event is located on ground level and offers accessible parking and wheelchair-accessible restrooms.
Q: Will backpacks be held for later pickup if I cannot attend?
A: No. Backpacks and school supplies cannot be reserved or held for individuals who are not present at the event.
Q: What languages are accommodated?
A: Services are available in English, Spanish, and American Sign Language (ASL).
Q: Are restrooms provided?
A: Yes. Enter through the yellow door labeled Bathroom/Bano, to receive a bathroom pass.
Q: What time does the backpack giveaway begin?
A: The giveaway begins at 10:00 A.M.
Q: What time does the event end?
A: The event concludes at 2:00 P.M.
Q: How many backpacks and school supply kits will be distributed?
A: Approximately 1,500 backpacks filled with school supplies will be distributed.
Q: Is this a drive-through event?
A: No. This is an in-person event. Free parking is available on-site.

A: Southern Oaks United Pentecostal Church has hosted the Backpack to School Bash for two years and has distributed more than 2,000 backpacks and school supply kits to children throughout the Oklahoma City metro area.
Q: Are the backpacks organized by grade level?
A: Yes. Backpacks are distributed according to grade level to ensure students receive age-appropriate school supplies for Grades K–12.

Since 1945, Southern Oaks United Pentecostal Church has been committed to serving the needs of families throughout South Oklahoma City. We believe every child deserves the opportunity to begin the school year prepared for success, regardless of their background, race, language, culture, religion, or economic circumstances.
Many families face financial challenges when purchasing school supplies. Providing students with the tools they need, helps build confidence, encourages participation in the classroom, and supports academic and social development.
As part of our commitment to children and families, Southern Oaks United Pentecostal Church:
Prays over every backpack before it is distributed.
Attaches a Blessing Tag to each backpack. This tag containing a prayer for the child's physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being.
Offers Sunday School classes for all ages every Sunday at 10:00 A.M., teaching biblical values and life principles in an age-appropriate format.
Provides free bus transportation for children who need assistance getting to church services.
Personal Bible Studies available for families who have questions about the Bible or wish to deepen their understanding of God's Word. At the Bible Study booth one may schedule a personal Bible study with one of our church members.
Prayer Support is always available. Prayer for children, adults, and families may be received at the Prayer booth. Prayer brings hope, encouragement, and strength during life's challenges.
Support for At-Risk Youth and Adult is also provided. Juveniles struggling with issues such as substance abuse, anger, authority family conflict, or criminal behavior. Southern Oaks United Pentecostal Church offers a court approved program call Christian Intervention Program (C.I.P.). This weekly class is designed to provide guidance, biblical principles, and practical life skills. The class meets every Sunday at 5:45 P.M. and is open to at-risk youth and adults seeking positive change and personal growth.
