For my final year at university, I wanted to create a project that I would be proud of for years to come. So I created Al Forak/ Severance, an interactive immersive installation that introduces a reconstructed stage theory of grief management.

About Al Forak/ Severance
Al Forak / Severance is an interactive, immersive experience that invites audiences to embark on a deeply personal and self-reflective journey through grief. The installation reimagines traditional understandings of loss by presenting a reconstructed stage theory of grief management—one that is not only more inclusive but also carefully tailored to align with Egyptian socio-cultural and religious expectations.
The Aim
By introducing the experience in familiar emotional and cultural frameworks, Al Forak encourages healthier, more relatable grieving and mourning. It aims to dismantle the stigma surrounding grief, offering participants a safe, thought-provoking space to process emotions, share unspoken thoughts, and confront the complexities of letting go of a loved one, remembrance, and emotional healing.
