The film takes its name from "Baby Driver," a song from the Simon & Garfunkel album Bridge over Troubled Water. The song is played during the end credits.[3][4] Edgar Wright, the film's director and screenwriter, consulted with James Gunn, director of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, before Vol. 2 released to ensure the two films did not feature the same songs on their soundtracks.[5]

A sequel to the soundtrack was released April 13, 2018, entitled Baby Driver Volume 2: The Score For a Score. It features several exclusive tracks, remixes, and film dialogue including cuts from Steven Price's previously-unreleased score.[29][30]

There's a playlist by Filtr that has all the songs, and the cover art for the playlist is the movie's soundtrack art. I don't get how the songs can all individually be in Apple Music, but not licensed to be available officially for the soundtrack. Silly.

One of the best parts about the Baby Driver soundtrack is how much variety there is. Baby is a young man of many tastes and his music reflects that. Such is the case with this punk rock tune which stands out among some of the more polished music of the movie.

While the film's soundtrack is filled with pre-existing music, this one seems like it was written specifically for Baby Driver. Obviously, Wright got the film's title from this Paul Simon song, which either served as inspiration for the entire plot or was just an insanely good fit for his idea.

This song from Lionel Ritchie is likely one of the more popular songs on the soundtrack before the movie's release. As the title suggests, it is an easy-going song that actually feels like it would be the perfect thing to listen to while taking a leisurely drive, something Baby doesn't get to do to often.

Just as the songs used in this action film are varied, so too are the action scenes. Despite being about a getaway driver, Wright seems aware that car chase after car chase would get stale and switches it up. One of the best moments is Baby's extended foot-chase getaway scored by this energetic and unique song.

Hollingshead: Listen, I lied. I too saw the film twice. I now follow Ansel Elgort on Instagram and I bought the soundtrack. I am here for Baby Driver (or as it is called in Canada, Le Petit Homme Qui Conduit Toutes Les Voitures), and am very excited to discuss its weirdness with you.

This is my favorite movie of all time, and I love how you captured the great elements of the soundtrack and the movie, how they fit together and the style of songs and a little of their history. Thank you Kaitlyn!!

Award-winning producer and artist, Danger Mouse, has curated the soundtrack for Edgar Wright's highly anticipated film, Baby Driver. The soundtrack for the music-heavy film, titled Music From The Motion Picture Baby Driver, boasts 30 multi-genre tunes in total, including 29 rare tracks and deep cuts, as well as one original song created by Danger Mouse specifically for Baby Driver. The new song is "Chase Me", by Danger Mouse featuring Run The Jewels and Big Boi.

Baby Driver, released in the summer of 2017, was directed by Edgar Wright. The movie is centered around Baby (Ansel Elgort), a getaway driver who participates in multiple heists in order to pay off a debt. The movie follows him through the story as he comes into contact with criminals and murderers, highlighting how it affects his personal life.

The acting is great and the soundtrack is on a whole other level. Instead of being used as just mood setters, it serves a much bigger purpose, setting the flow and pace of the movie. Baby himself is an interesting character. He contracted tinnitus at a young age and has a constant ringing in his ears and uses music to drown it out. Thus, he is listening to music most of the time during the film.

We decided to single out a few of the tracks from the movie and soundtrack to delve deeper into the musical mind of Edgar Wright, learning how some of the songs and ideas were gestating in his head for many years.

Baby Driver tells the story of Baby, a talented, young getaway driver (Ansel Elgort) who relies on the beat of his personal soundtrack to be the best in the game. When he meets the girl of his dreams (Lily James), Baby sees a chance to ditch his criminal life and make a clean getaway. But after being coerced into working for a crime boss (Kevin Spacey), he must face the music when a doomed heist threatens his life, love and freedom.

Every good car chase needs great music and in Baby Driver, a movie with lots of car chases, the music is crucial to making them as wonderful as they are. Next time you steal a car or rob a bank, pop in your earbuds blast this soundtrack. Let's hope when they make another one, the soundtrack will be just as good.

Sound and music have always played a vital role in Edgar Wright's movies, usually for the sake of comedy. In Baby Driver however, the whole movie is essentially choreographed to the soundtrack. According to Wright parts of the script were written to sync up with specific songs, with some scenes, the soundtrack was selected before the script was even written.

This is the first time I am talking about a recent movie and I could have written a review for Shin Godzilla, but I want to see it a few more times before doing a full review. Now with this movie, at this point I have seen this four times. So one must assume that I enjoyed this movie to go see it four times. Well you are WRONG! Nah, just kidding, I really loved this movie from my all time favorite director Edgar Wright. I am not saying one of my favorite directors, this is my favorite director. I have no doubts that Edgar is my favorite. I have talked about his films on websites before with so much positivity that I just make sure to catch myself up with his works. With Baby Driver in his collection, I feel this is going to be a new big step for Wright just like how I feel Scott Pilgrim was a nice stepping block as well. There is still that unique feel of this director, but he clearly shows new direction with possibly the best usage of a soundtrack. This is also my favorite film of 2017, I do not even care what else is coming this year, I know this is the movie of the year.

So before getting to the plot of this movie, I want to talk about the soundtrack since the songs came before the movie itself. I am not lying, the idea of the soundtrack being the building blocks of the movie was the actual idea. This sounds crazy, but when knowing how certain songs do have similar lyrics or feelings to them, it seems possible to construct a movie with it. With this idea the soundtrack itself has become a character in the film since it is moving the plot in a strange and exciting way. Some songs are used more than once, but when you hear it one time and know it is coming again quickly establishes the mood of the scene. Even when you hear certain tracks for the first time in the movie, the first notes really makes things clear. Then with how sound effects flow with the songs makes things feel natural and not a gimmick. I have to say after watching this movie, really gives you a sense of rhythm since you were naturally paying attention to the sounds of cars, guns, and other random noises go in sync with the music. In terms of the sound editing, this is so far my favorite mix and if this does not get any awards for it, I will slap someone!

Now the basic story is a young boy trying to get out from the bad crowd. The main character, Baby has been the driver for these trained criminals. They keep robbing banks or any place with profit and Baby has been doing this for about a decade. He gets himself stuck because of one bad move in his past and is working to get himself out, but he learns that it is not easy at all. Along with this when he is thinking he is getting away, his foster-father tries to get him on a better path and Baby starts meeting a new girl in his life, Debora. Baby starts to makes moves on Debora and even his foster father approves of this and gets him a real job too. Sadly, Baby is called back to the car for another job by the big boss that could easily ruin his life. Along with him he works with certain criminals and gets associated with three specific ones. Buddy and Darling are a couple and are surprisingly nice to the young man, Buddy even shares the same taste of music. Meanwhile, a man named Bats thinks he is quite bothersome and a little too strange, and he is a bit too trigger happy. Overall the characters do seem quite simple, but Edgar Wright hides many details of who they actually are in the dialogue or in brief shots, like their real names.

As a film about getaway driver making heavy use of a pop soundtrack, Baby Driver was always going to find itself being compared to Drive. And though I heavily suspect Edgar Wright may have originally written the bulk of this script when he was 15, Baby Driver feels rather derivative of Drive.

"'Radar Love' is one of those songs I heard a lot as a kid," Wright says. "But I did not realize they were from the Netherlands. It sounds like the most American song of all time," he says while discussing the greatness of Quentin Tarantino's "Reservoir Dogs" soundtrack.

"Baby Driver" opened this past week as a candidate for the list of great heist films. It's fast and rhythmic, stylized and syncopated to a soundtrack that feels so perfectly fit to the action that you wonder at times if it was choreographed by a ballet director. The story centers on a wunderkind getaway driver (Ansel Elgort) who can do with a car what Eddie Van Halen does on a guitar or Tarantino on celluloid - he transcends the medium, all to the pulsing music he hears through his ever-present headphones.

The songs each provide mood and verve in the film's key moments, including the opening scene when the getaway driver, "Baby," jams out to "Bellbottoms" as he waits for his fellow crooks to return from a robbery. 17dc91bb1f
