Hazrat Baba Fakhruddin Suharwardi (R.A.) – The Beacon of Divine Light in Jalpally
Hazrat Baba Fakhruddin Suharwardi (R.A.) is one of the most revered Sufi saints of the Suharwardi order, a luminous spiritual figure whose blessings continue to touch the lives of countless people. A direct descendant of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) through the Syed lineage, he renounced worldly pursuits at a young age and dedicated himself to the path of divine love and service to humanity.
For centuries, his shrine in Jalpally, Hyderabad, has been a center of spirituality, healing, and divine miracles. His Urs Shareef, celebrated on 21st Shaban, draws thousands of devotees who seek his blessings and honor his spiritual legacy.
Baba Fakhruddin (R.A.) was born into a noble family of Syeds, blessed with both worldly knowledge and spiritual inclination. However, from an early age, he showed a deep yearning for divine love and mystical wisdom. His heart was drawn to the path of asceticism, and he sought the company of great Sufi masters.
Under the guidance of the renowned Sufi saint, Hazrat Shaikh Shahabuddin Umar Suharwardi (R.A.), he delved deep into the teachings of Islamic spirituality. He was trained in the Suharwardi order, a Sufi path known for its strict discipline, emphasis on knowledge, and unwavering devotion to Allah. Through intense spiritual training, he attained a high level of maqam (spiritual station) and was blessed with divine knowledge and miraculous abilities.
Feeling the divine call to serve humanity, Baba Fakhruddin (R.A.) left his homeland and embarked on a journey towards Hindustan, where he would spread the message of Islam, love, and divine truth.
Baba Fakhruddin Suharwardi (R.A.) eventually reached Jalpally, Hyderabad, which was then a dense jungle, untouched by civilization. It was here that he chose to settle, seeking solitude and engaging in deep zikr (remembrance of Allah), meditation, and prayers. Over time, people were drawn to his spiritual presence, seeking his guidance, healing, and blessings.
His life was a living example of humility and devotion. He never sought fame or recognition but continued to serve the poor, heal the sick, and guide the lost souls toward the path of truth. Through his spiritual wisdom and miraculous blessings, people witnessed divine interventions that strengthened their faith and brought them closer to Allah.
The shrine of Hazrat Baba Fakhruddin Suharwardi (R.A.) in Jalpally has been a place of immense spiritual power, where countless devotees have witnessed miracles and experienced divine blessings. These miracles are not just stories of the past but continue to occur, strengthening the faith of those who seek his intercession. Here are some of the extraordinary incidents that stand as proof of Baba Fakhruddin’s spiritual presence:
One of the most well-known miracles associated with Baba Fakhruddin (R.A.) is the appearance of sugar at his blessed grave. Every day, between 9-11 kgs of sugar would mysteriously appear at the head of his tomb. This phenomenon astonished devotees, who believed it to be a sign of divine blessings.
Sugar, in Sufi symbolism, represents spiritual sweetness, mercy, and divine grace. People would take this sugar home, believing it to be a cure for illnesses and a source of blessings. However, as some individuals began to steal and misuse the sugar for commercial purposes, the miracle ceased. Even though the sugar no longer appears, the spiritual presence and divine blessings of Baba Fakhruddin (R.A.) remain unchanged, and people continue to experience miraculous healings at his shrine.
The dargah of Baba Fakhruddin Suharwardi (R.A.) has become a place of healing for those suffering from diseases that modern medicine cannot cure. Countless people have found relief from ailments that were declared untreatable by doctors. Some of the most astonishing cases include:
Healing from Paralysis: Many individuals suffering from paralysis have regained movement after visiting the shrine and seeking blessings.
Cancer and Critical Illnesses: Patients suffering from cancer, kidney failure, jaundice, and severe headaches have been miraculously cured, proving that Baba Fakhruddin’s blessings transcend medical explanations.
Stomach Disorders Due to Magic or Possession: People who believed they were fed harmful substances through black magic often arrive at the dargah in severe pain. The moment Hazrat Shah Muhammed Raheemuddin Suharwardi (the present custodian) blows dua (blessed breath) on them, they vomit out the afflicted material and recover instantly.
Those Who Arrive on Stretchers Leave Walking: Many individuals who were brought to the dargah in a critical state, unable to walk, have left the shrine on their feet after receiving blessings and healing.
One of the most remarkable miracles witnessed in recent years was the case of a blind woman from Pakistan. She was completely blind and had lost all hope of regaining her vision. Through the intercession of Shah Muhammed Raheemuddin Suharwardi and the divine blessings of Baba Fakhruddin Suharwardi (R.A.), she miraculously regained her eyesight.
The incident became so famous in her village that every household now keeps a framed picture of the dargah as a testament to the saint’s miraculous power.
Between 1990 and 1995, an astonishing miracle took place in the house of Hazrat Shah Muhammed Raheemuddin Suharwardi.
On a particular day, the oil for the sacred Charagh (lamp) had completely finished, and there was no way to light it. However, the Charagh was an essential part of the daily spiritual practices, and it had to be lit.
With deep faith in Allah and the blessings of Baba Fakhruddin Suharwardi (R.A.), Raheemuddin Suharwardi took water, recited dua, and poured it into the Charagh. In an unbelievable turn of events, the lamp ignited with water and continued to burn, proving the divine power of Baba Fakhruddin Suharwardi (R.A.).
During the holy month of Ramzan, the dargah was beautifully prepared for Iftar, with food and fruits laid out in the courtyard. Just as everyone prepared to break their fast, heavy rain suddenly began pouring, threatening to ruin the meal.
At that moment, Shah Muhammed Raheemuddin Suharwardi stood under the open sky, raised his hands in dua, and sought Baba Fakhruddin’s blessings. Miraculously, the rain stopped instantly, and the sky became clear, allowing everyone to continue their Iftar.
This event was witnessed by many and even recorded, serving as proof of the powerful connection between the saint and his devotees.
Long before modern roads and lights, the only source of illumination at night was the sacred Chiragh (lamp) of Baba Fakhruddin Suharwardi (R.A.).
During Urs Shareef, a relative of Raheemuddin Suharwardi was returning home from the shrine when he found himself lost in the dense jungle, unable to see the path. With no torches or light sources, fear crept into their hearts.
In desperation, they called upon Baba Fakhruddin Suharwardi for guidance. Miraculously, the sacred Chiragh appeared before them, floating in the air and lighting their path through the darkness. The light stayed ahead of them until they safely reached their destination, then disappeared.
This divine occurrence became a testament to Baba Fakhruddin Suharwardi’s ever-living presence, guiding his devotees even beyond the physical realm.
During one Urs Shareef, a devotee named Shaikh Ahmed Farooqi was traveling to the shrine on his bicycle when he encountered severe flooding. The rising water levels made it impossible to move forward, and he was stranded.
Realizing his helplessness, he closed his eyes and called upon Baba Fakhruddin Suharwardi for help.
Suddenly, a mystical light, resembling a bicycle dynamo light, appeared in front of him and illuminated the flooded road. Guided by this divine glow, he safely crossed the water and reached the dargah.
This miraculous event reinforced the belief that Baba Fakhruddin Suharwardi’s spiritual guidance knows no bounds, always protecting those who seek him with sincerity.
Every day, people from all over India and the world visit the dargah seeking relief from ailments, spiritual disturbances, and black magic. The present custodian, Hazrat Shah Muhammed Raheemuddin Suharwardi, continues the legacy of Baba Fakhruddin Suharwardi (R.A.) by offering:
Daily spiritual healing from 11 AM – 1 PM.
Remote healing via phone calls after 9 PM for international and outstation devotees.
Treatment for possession, magic-related illnesses, and medical conditions.
Tibb-e-Nabawi (Prophetic medicine) and Unani healing services.
Ramzan Iftar and special prayers.
During COVID-19, when gatherings were restricted, the dargah distributed food parcels to the needy, ensuring that no one was left hungry. However, due to financial constraints, the daily Langar (free food service) has now been stopped, as the dargah is solely maintained by Shah Muhammed Raheemuddin Suharwardi without external support.
