India’s Automobile Sector, with a valuation of $1.8 trillion is the fifth largest Automobile Industry in the world and with the current growth rate of 2.6%, it is expected to overtake Germany by 2021. At present the industry employs 76 lakh people and it is estimated to increase up to 125 lakh by 2022.
To fulfill this ever increasing demand of experienced and trained automobile professionals, practical knowledge of the automobile engines and other automobile systems is necessary. This can not be adequately covered only by classroom teaching. Hence to develop an engineer with proper technical know-how it is necessary to provide them with practical hands-on training as well.
Vishwaniketan iMEET aims at making students industry ready. We believe that the implementation of practical knowledge on real world problems helps make a well-rounded and capable student. To achieve this objective, Vishwaniketan in colaboration with Baba Automobiles Pvt. Ltd., established the Baba Automobile Lab in November 2018.
Since its inception a mere five months ago, we have successfully trained more than 200 students. As a typical Engineering Student has limited opportunities for practical experience, the lab offers a chance for the students to closely study engines, their parts, their construction, working and much more. This training has not only benefited our regular students but also our Baja and SAE teams. Our teams have performed exceedingly well at the National Level finishing second in the National Quad Bike Competition - 'Quad-Torc'.
Baba Automobiles trains students not only on the working of the different engines but also on the essential Automobile Systems that make up the entire vehicle. Analyzing the internal working and construction of the Steering System and Suspension System greatly helped our students when designing their own for the competitions.
The Automobile sector is currently undergoing a massive change. The main point of focus of the current automobile research is Electric and Hybrid Vehicles. Keeping this in mind, Vishwaniketan in collaboration with Baba Automobile hosted an Electric Vehicle Development Program in March 2019. The students from both Mechanical and Electrical Branches were involved in the design and manufacturing of the Electric Vehicle.
The students developed a complete electric bike from scratch. Further they also converted a Honda City into an Electric Vehicle. The students replaced the Engine with an Electric Motor which is powered by Batteries that are charged via the solar panels mounted on the top of the vehicle.
This was a great learning opportunity for the students and a chance very few students get in their life-time.
In our quest to achieve new milestones in undergraduate engineering education, we have come together as a group of extraordinary Educationists, Corporates, Industrialists and Entrepreneurs.
We aim to impart theoretical knowledge and at the same time introduce our students to the real-world problems and guide them to become resourceful solution providers.
Our Project Based Learning (PBL) is a proven method and a very powerful instrument to create future-ready professionals and entrepreneurs. Project Based Learning is aimed at nurturing, inspiring and transforming students from knowledge reproducers to product creation and development oriented professionals with real and actual problem solving capabilities and skills, further leading to Patent based research and the conceptualizing & commercializing of Intellectual Property.
To help bridge the gap between industry and college, Vishwaniketan has set up four Industry Sponsored labs:
Through these labs, Vishwaniketan aims to create both industry ready students and future entrepreneurs.
