B-VNF: Blockchain-Enabled VNF Orchestration in MEC-5G Networks

OVERVIEW

The envisioned future with smart cities, autonomous vehicles, low latency data flow will be piloted by 5G technology and for its actualization the 5G network will be drawn upon resources like Network Function Virtualization (VNF) and Multi-Access Edge Computing (MEC) rather than using high-end hardware which cannot serve the purpose. The pre-existing unsound 5G architecture cannot solve the problems related to the absence of authentic payment channels for usage from the operator and verification of system prerequisites before migration are also concerning. Moreover, doubts can be raised about the trustworthiness and quality of the transferred services. Thus a solution to this is proposed by our implementation using the dependable, peer-to-peer, immutable Blockchain technology. For providing the proof of our work we propose an emulated architecture with entities like the VNF orchestrator and MEC device mimicked by laptops and the Block chain by Ethereum since there aren’t any pre-existing architectures to work on or to provide a solution to the faced complicacies to the best of our knowledge. The proposed architecture ensures disposal of the problem and brings us proximate to the near future
