Can my child bring his/her cellphone to class?
The answer to this question is NO. BUT if by any means your child needs his/her cellphone due to needing it after school or something, arrangements can be made one-on-one with me, the principal and parents to see what solution can be made for this. As your child 1st grade teacher, I plan to keep all communication appropriate and provide devices for the times we use the internet. No use of cellphones will hardly ever be required.
What to do if my child is absent from school or will/needs to be absent?
If your child is absent from school, any form of excuse will be acceptable so it won't count against the child. If the child needs to be absent for whatever reason and you can't get an excuse or it's not an excused absence, still communicating with me about it will be fine. I am understanding that things happen and come suddenly, hopefully this doesn't become a serious issue.
Is there a dress code for your child?
There is indeed a dress code for your child and this information is located in the school's handbook. The handbook can be picked up during open house, registration, or anytime during the school year! Violation of dress code will result in a phone call home for a change of clothing to be brought to the student, so it would be best to always have your child in dress code.

Will my child need an extra pair of shoes for P.E.?
This is an optional decision for parents. If your child has on brand new clothes/shoes and are a little on the younger side, I would suggest it to protect the new items. There will always be time for a student to change shoes before this time if they need to. The school will not be responsible for the damaging of shoes!!!

What is the pick-up process like?
After school, each child will be in groups; bus riders, car riders, and walkers. Whatever group your child is in there will be a designated area for them. Parents will be directed by the school guard on where to get their child depending on the grade! This sounds chaotic, but it will be pretty simple!
What if my child becomes ill or injured at school?
If your child becomes injured or ill at school, he/she will be directed to the nurse immediately! If the child needs an ambulance/hospitalization the nurse will be responsible for calling home to let the parents know when and where their child will be going. Each child will have an assigned Chromebook, however, it will stay at school everyday. This prevents damage ,lost, and stolen issues!
