Azur Lane on PC - An Exciting Shooting RPG Game for PC

Ever wished for a shooting game without the same old tanks, ships, and weapons in monotonous green and gray? In Azur Lane on PC, we can give you the same amount of action in a shooting RPG and see some eye candy with its super cute moe characters!

In the game, the ships are not in the form of literal ships. Instead, they are designed as cute female characters and you’ll be using them to fight against each other just like ships fighting against each other. It is time now to let go of old ships and in with the girls with big guns.

What is Azur Lane on PC?

Azur Lane is a side-scrolling shoot 'em up, simulation, and role-playing game. In this game, you will be collecting characters—which are based on warships from World War II and personified into female characters—and you will be using them, as the commander of the ships, during encounters with enemies. The story of the game starts with a recreation of the Battle of the Denmark Strait where the British battlecruiser HMS Hood was sunk by the German forces. Other than that, the story revolves around military alliances, alien intervention, which split the alliance in two, and several decisive battles during the war.

It all started when the game’s producer, Yuwan, who is also a popular uploader to the Chinese video-sharing website Bilibili, started to develop the game with five of his college friends. It was said that the initial intention was to create a doujin game if ever a commercial one is not possible. The developers wanted to create a different form of ship moe anthropomorphism in a game since there are similar games such as Kantai Collection. To do so, they didn’t use the turn-based strategy gameplay and they changed the focus on Japanese ships to those from other countries during World War II.

Why You Should Look Forward to Azur Lane

Three words: ship moe anthropomorphism. For those who are not familiar with the terms, moe refers to fictional animated characters that are depicted as youthful, vulnerable, and innocent in an idealized way. On the other hand, anthropomorphism refers to animals, objects—or in this case, ships—being personified or having human attributes. Therefore, as mentioned earlier, Azur Lane PC Version is not just your typical warship game where you have to assemble your men and attack other ships. In this game, you will be collecting ships in the form of beautiful women and use them as you attack the enemy with their big guns.

Seeing the same green and gray monotone on common warship games can be quite boring the longer you get into it. In this game, the animated cute moe girls are sure to capture your eyes, attention, and heart. Cute they may seem, but they should not be underestimated. They have huge arsenals that will increase its power the more you play with them and enhance their stats.

Aside from that, the gameplay is something that makes you get into the game. The side-scrolling, shooting RPG is the kind of gameplay that is hard to get tired of. It is different from the usual shooting RPG, and at the same time, it’s not as plain as a turn-based game.

How to Play Azur Lane

Before the actual combat phase, you will be organizing two fleets which consist of a front row and a back row, with three slots available in each row. Placed in the front row are Destroyers, light cruisers, and heavy cruisers, while on the other hand, battleships, aircraft cruisers, monitors, repair ships, battlecruisers, and aircraft carriers are placed on the back row. Then, you will be selecting a map and shall be led to a grid-like map where you will be navigating. The objective is to reach and defeat the map’s boss and clear other obstructing enemies all while using minimal movements.

During the combat phase, you will be controlling the front row ship’s movements using a virtual joystick while it’s automatically firing shells. The stationary back row will be sending shell barrages and the player can also manually call for airstrikes. With this, you will be attacking the opponent until someone’s life bar runs out. If you fall during the battle, then you cannot join the other action of the map. Plus, a larger number of morale points are deducted to the fallen ships at the end of the battle. Having low morale leads to lower stats and affection points.

Game Features

Exciting Game Features You’ll Enjoy

There’s a whole lot of things that will make you love Azur Lane more, aside from its unique concept and gameplay. As part of it being a simulation game, Azur Lane has features where you are given the chance to take charge of something or to take care of something just like in simulation games. Based on how you treat your characters, you will be given rewards such as exp points, morale, or stat bonuses. You are also given the chance to customize and do things as you please. What you do about it is all up to you since this is the simulation part of the game.

Dormitory

In this feature, your characters in chibi—Japanese slang for short—are placed in a dormitory where they can bathe, sit, and sleep. Putting them in the dorm could make them either gain passive exp, increase their affection, earn furniture coin rewards, or recover their morale. You may also decorate the dorm. Aside from the aesthetics, improving the dorm could make them comfortable and increase their exp. Thus it is important to invest in furniture because it will help you in exp farming. Expanding the space of the dorm also increases their comfort as well, so make sure to take note of that.

Aside from providing comfort in the dorm by decorating it or giving it space, you may also gain exp through food. Called Supplies Bar, it works by gradually converting supplies (or snacks) to exp for the characters. You may be able to purchase supplies using fuel or gems—which is the in-game currency of Azur Lane.

However, whether or not there are supplies, your character will still gain exp albeit not the same quantity. As long as there are supplies and there is at least one character on the first floor, supplies will be converted into exp in 15-second ticks. If there are none, the character will still attain exp but at a reduced rate.

Wedding

In this game, you can also marry your favorite character once her love level of affection points reach 100 either via battle, secretary, or dorm. Once you reach that level, you can marry her through a promise ring, which can be bought from the Premium Item Shop for 600 gems or once for free through a quest. Through marriage, the cap for affection points goes up to 200 and stat bonuses increase accordingly. Moreover, every 30 days, you may give customized names to the characters that you married and they will have a special border that sparkles when they are set as secretaries.

This game doesn’t only allow polygamy, but it also gives rewards to those who married multiple times! For example, if you get married thrice, you get a special piece of furniture called a kimono hanger. Meanwhile, if you get married seven times, you get the maple leaf wallpaper. The special furniture that you receive varies on how many times you got married. And speaking of rewards, you also get special oath skin for popular characters when you give them the promise ring.

Guides

Your Ultimate Guide to Azur Lane Equipment

There are two types of equipment used in Azur Lane: equipment skins and equipment upgrades. In general, skins are for aesthetic use and they are for providing designs for your arsenals during the battle. However, they don’t affect your performance. On the other hand, upgrades are for improving the stats of your equipment; they are key to winning battles. Aside from that, you can destroy and get coins and resources from equipment. At the same time, you can create and design your own equipment as well.

By default, the allowed quantity of equipment that can be stored is 300 while for the unequipped, the amount allowed is counted towards 300. You can expand your inventory or the slots available for your equipment by 20 each for 100 gems in Akashi’s Shop.

Aside from that, it is important to remember that any scrapped, merged, or destroyed ships will automatically remove its equipment in them and it will be sent into the storage immediately, which will fill up your equipment storage. With this, it is necessary to watch out for your storage because you might end up having your equipment space full. Once it does, you can’t take any more equipment.

Skins

As mentioned prior, skins are modifiers of equipment that are solely for aesthetic purposes. They don’t affect the skills or the stats of your ships. However, they will only change the appearance of the projectiles or planes of your ships. This can be accessed by pressing the gear button located at the leftmost part of the screen.

Only one skin at a time can be equipped. They can be obtained through Appearance Boxes or Skin Boxes which can be bought in the Shiranui’s Shop for 7,000 gold or the Event Shop during events, where equipment skin boxes are sold. Moreover, they are only available for a limited amount of time.

Upgrade

On the other hand, equipment upgrades affect the stats and of the ship, unlike the skins which are for aesthetic purposes only. This can be done by selecting the equipment and tapping on the enhance button. Doing so will help you during the game since it will help you win battles against other ships.

Upgrading your equipment will improve its stats every rank by a linear amount. By the time it reaches its max rank, it will reach its maximum stats. Higher rarity equipment is different, however, since they can be upgraded multiple times more than the low rarity equipment. Aside from that, upgrading costs a certain number of gold coins and parts.

Destroy

In this game, you can also destroy equipment if you feel like you don’t have any use for it anymore or if you need the extra gold and parts. This is accessible by tapping the button on the far left of the base Equipment tab. The amount of gold and parts received depends on the rarity and enhancement of the equipment. Plus, any upgrade parts gained from destroying three stars or higher equipment will be the same type as the destroyed equipment.

It is important to remember that in all upgrade levels except zero, the number of coins and parts received will be less than the input used to upgrade the equipment.

Design

You may also design the equipment of your choice in exchange for blueprints and gold coins. The amount of blueprints and gold coins required is based on the rarity of the equipment that you want to make. It can go as low as five blueprints and 60 gold coins to 50 blueprints and 1,500 gold coins. Blueprints can be obtained as a reward, through research or in event shops.

World of Warships and Azur Lane Crossover Once Again

Exciting news for the fans of both World of Warships and Azur Lane! For the third time, both World War II-themed games are going to do another crossover event, where there would be a lot of Azur Lane-themed ships, commanders, avatars, flags, and camouflages just like the previous crossovers. Moreover, the seven new commanders are Baltimore, Jean Bart, Sovetskaya Rossiya, Shokaku, Littorio, Yat Sen, and Roon.

There will be a special combat mission chain that will allow players to unlock some of the new Azur Lane aesthetics, with Commander Nelson as the final reward. The special combat mission chain will be active until August 31.

New Game Upcoming

With the success of Azur Lane, Yostar, the creator of the game, is planning on making another game that is centered on—you guessed it—beautiful women. Blue Archive is the new game that is currently in the works, and it is expected to be released around this year in Japan. The game is a slice of life RPG with the theme, “An RPG about finding miracles in everyday life” and the keywords of the game are “School x Life x Story RPG”.

The game will revolve around a teacher leading students belonging to different school clubs to investigate certain incidents around the city. It seems like this new game will be quite different from Azur Lane in terms of the overall theme.

While Azur Lane is set on historical times, Blue Archive is set in modern times. The common denominator between the two games would be guns and girls.

The game will still be free to play with optional purchases. Although the release in Japan has been announced with the closed beta application (which is only limited to 1,000 players on Android) just recently closed, there is still no announcement regarding its English release.

July 30 Patch Notes

There are new contents in the July 30 Patch Notes of the game. Although it is considerably fewer than the patch notes from July 16, those are still notable changes in the game.

To start with, there is a new event which ends on August 5, it is the Nocturne Before Nightfall Phase 1 event. In this event, some ships will be receiving 20% more exp and those are Admiral Hipper (CN/JP servers only), Admiral Graf Spee (EN server only), Belfast, Jamaica, and Vampire. Phase 1 is the preparation phase of the event and after this will be the operation phase which shall continue until August 26.

Aside from the Nocturne Before Nightfall Phase 1 event, there is another new event in the game as well, namely Blueprint Completion Plan - Neptune and a rerun event named Back to School.

In Blueprint Completion Plan - Neptune event, you can obtain bonus Neptune Strengthening Units during the event for every research completed (the maximum number of blueprints that can be obtained is 30). Meanwhile, in the Back to School event, participating in the event can make you obtain Craven's Cheerleader on the Playground skin and other rewards. Aside from those events, there is a new addition to war archives: Strive, Wish, and Strategize, and an additional piece of furniture.
