Last semester in my World Literature and Composition book, we started our YWrite Book project. Our teacher believed it was a way for the students to express our creativity while exhibiting and learning the standards required for the class. I chose to write a book that's a typical romance. It is centered around two students who attend UCLA and fall in love. This semester we focus on publishing and marketing our book.
Last semester, our teachers assigned us an "Epic Elements" project for PBL (Project-Based Learning). This assignment connected our Visual Arts, World History, Chemistry, World Lit. and Comp. and Geometry classes. This is the World Literature and Composition of it. My partner and I devised a story that connected our separate heroes together. We used history components of ancient civilizations such as Ancient Greece and the Indus River Valley Civilization. We exhibited the standard of epic writing through this literary piece.
For our YWrite books, we had to design a book cover and detail what our books are about.
In World Lit. & Composition, we are reading the Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan. The assignment presented is a research project about the five elements of the Chinese culture and we designed a informational poster to present our knowledge.
At the beginning of our YWrite project, we filmed a project talking about our creative process and what we plan to write about.
At the end of our project, we created a video stating how the project went for us and if we had finished or not. We also talked about our plans to publish.
At the beginning of the school year, our teacher had us create eulogies for ourselves as a part of our "Identity" unit. The eulogy is an expression of personal grief and it does not have to be sad. It is composed of two main parts: the introduction of who is being eulogized and the lamentation of why this person will be missed.
