I am a post-doctoral researcher in the DFG-funded “Global Developmental Dynamics of Social Policy“ (CRC1342) at the University of Bremen. I am also one of the Governance and Local Development (GLD) Institute Fellows in 2024, an affiliated researcher at the International Security and Development Center (ISDC), a research associate at the Economic Research Forum (ERF), and an associate professor of economics at Istanbul Technical University (on unpaid leave until the 15 September 2025). Previously, I was a senior researcher at ISDC in Berlin. During my sabbatical, I was also a Forced Migration and Refugee Studies (FFVT) fellow and a visiting scholar at the Institute for Migration Research and Intercultural Studies (IMIS) at the University of Osnabrück in Germany in the 2022-2023 academic year. In the Fall 2023, I also worked as a guest lecturer in the Department of Economics at the University of Osnabrück and taught a graduate-level course on the Economics of Migration.

I studied business administration at Bogazici University and earned an MSc in Economics at Birkbeck College, University of London, with a Chevening Scholarship. I earned my PhD in Economics as part of the European Doctoral Program in Quantitative Economics, during which I studied at the Catholic University of Louvain (UCL) (my main university) and the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) (as a visiting PhD student). During my PhD studies, I was a graduate teaching assistant for three years at the LSE.

Currently, I am a member of the Equal Opportunities Committee within CRC 1342 at the University of Bremen.
