Aye-Aye
(Daubentonia madagascariensis)
(Daubentonia madagascariensis)
The aye-aye lives primarily on the east coast of Madagascar. Its natural habitat is rainforest or dry deciduous forest, but many live in cultivated areas due to deforestation. Rainforest aye-ayes, the most common, dwell in canopy areas, and are usually sighted above 70 meters altitude.
Endangered Species
Aye-Aye are the only primates that uses echolocation to keep the Madagascar's rainforest ecosystem balanced. Protecting the rainforest trees. (3 Finger) The aye-aye uses its skeletal middle finger to tap on branches as it searches for wood-boring grubs, They “tap” them against wood to generate acoustic reverberations that allow them to find wood‐boring larvae. This skeletal finger is a vital organ. This specialized finger acquires most of its major food resources, including nectar, seeds, and wood-boring insects —and then hook and pull them out. The finger has a ball-and-socket joint, giving it a wide range of motion for reaching prey or scooping out coconuts also. This is how i am able to keep down insect infestation internally.
(Cursed Lemur)
Malagasy people believe when an aye-aye appears, humans will suffer unless the animal is slaughtered, or the village is abandoned. Superstitions as bizarre as aye-aye's murder people in their sleep, piercing the aortic artery with their stick-like finger. Creating fear and whenever or wherever people see them, immediate death!
