آيات الحق ("the app") is a Quran reading app. This policy explains exactly what the app does with your information.
The short version: the app has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. Everything you create in the app stays on your device. The only personal information that ever leaves your device is your location, and only if you choose to use automatic prayer times or the Qibla compass.
We do not collect any personal information.
There is no sign-up, no login, and no user account. We operate no server that stores your data, and we have no way to identify you or contact you.
The following is saved only on your device. It is never uploaded to us or to anyone else, and it is not backed up to any service we control:
Your bookmarks, coloured highlights and the personal notes you write on verses
Your khatma (completion) progress and which pages you have read
Your last reading position
Your settings: app language, light/dark theme, font size, Mushaf edition and page colour, chosen reciter, translation, tafsir edition and tajweed colouring
Your chosen city or last known coordinates, if you use prayer times (see section 3)
Counters used to decide when to show the app-rating prompt
The app also stores downloaded content on your device so it works offline: Mushaf pages, tafsir, word-by-word linguistic data and recitation audio.
Deleting the app removes all of it permanently. The app's Settings screen also lets you clear downloaded content at any time.
Location is optional. The app asks for it only when you choose automatic prayer times or open the Qibla compass. You can instead select your city manually, in which case your location is never requested or used.
If you allow it, the app requests your location only while you are using it. It is never accessed in the background and never tracked over time.
If you use automatic prayer times or the Qibla compass, your coordinates are sent to these third-party services in order to produce a result:
Aladhan (api.aladhan.com) — calculates prayer times for your position. If you choose your city manually, the city name is sent instead of coordinates.
Nominatim / OpenStreetMap (nominatim.openstreetmap.org) — converts your coordinates into a city name so the app can show where the times apply.
We do not receive, store or see this information ourselves. Its handling by those services is governed by their own privacy policies:
Aladhan: https://aladhan.com/privacy-policy
OpenStreetMap Foundation: https://osmfoundation.org/wiki/Privacy_Policy
Your most recent coordinates and city name are also saved on your device so prayer times still work without a connection. Revoking location permission in your device settings stops all use of location immediately.
The Quran text is built into the app and works offline. For everything else — translations, tafsir, Mushaf page images, recitation audio and word-by-word linguistic data — the app requests content from the sources below.
As with any request over the internet, these services can see the IP address of your connection. The app sends them no name, no account and no identifier.
api.alquran.cloud, cdn.alquran.cloud — Quran text, translations, tafsir
raw.githubusercontent.com — Mushaf page artwork
qul.tarteel.ai, static-cdn.tarteel.ai — Mushaf page data
cdn.islamic.network, download.quranicaudio.com, everyayah.com — recitation audio
dev.surahapp.com — word-by-word grammar (i‘rab), meanings and qira’at
cdn.jsdelivr.net — content files
api.aladhan.com, nominatim.openstreetmap.org — prayer times and city names (see section 3)
If you turn on adhan alerts, notifications are scheduled locally on your device. There is no push server, and no device token or identifier is sent anywhere. Turning the alerts off, or revoking notification permission in your device settings, stops them.
The app may occasionally ask you to rate it, using the standard rating prompt provided by Apple or Google. That prompt is handled entirely by the App Store or Play Store. It collects nothing for us, and we are not told whether you rated the app or what you said.
The app does not record audio. On iOS you may see the microphone listed among the app's declared permissions; this is required by the audio playback framework used for recitation, and no recording ever takes place.
The app contains no analytics, no advertising, no tracking technologies and no third-party marketing or attribution SDKs. We do not profile you, and we do not sell, rent or share personal information — we hold none to share.
The app is suitable for all ages. It collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
Because we collect and hold no personal information about you, there is nothing for us to disclose, correct, export or delete on your behalf.
All data the app creates is on your device and under your control: clear it from the Settings screen, revoke a permission in your device settings, or delete the app to remove everything. For the third-party services listed above, please refer to their own privacy policies.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
