A Year and Its Aftermath was initially planned as a solo artwork by Usha aimed at describing her struggles with mental health during the pandemic. However, after being inspired by the initiative taken by peers and others around her, she changed her mind and started focusing on how she could help make a difference in her own way. Usha teamed up with her friend and classmate, Rahel, in hopes of being able to turn the project into a more global effort. We hope you join our team!
A Year and Its Aftermath grapples with the effects of the coronavirus pandemic, and the reality we live in today. Although the pandemic is far from over, the effects are long-reaching and people globally have been disproportionally impacted, in a myriad of ways. Our aim in this exhibition is to highlight these difficulties and ramifications from various lens - and hopefully contribute towards fighting against such issues through the sales of our artworks.
A Year and Its Aftermath is planned to exhibit virtually and in-person on June 12th, 2021, a little over a year after the spread of COVID-19 as a pandemic. Focusing both on how the pandemic has affected Cambodia and the rest of the world, the art pieces will be sold as prints or in other formats and the profits will be donated to organisations and businesses of the artists' choosing.
