Enjoyed an awesome treat on Thursday 02/05/2019 =)
Rob Thomas Live and Unplugged at the Triple M Garage Session in Townsville.
It was a very personal performance (Rare) from the lead singer of one of the worlds largest touring bands Matchbox Twenty.

Did an underwater video shoot of the lagoon beneath the waterfall. Stayed on and captured some night footage as well.
The fish in the video are Jungle Perch. Although not considered an endangered species, much of the Southern Queensland coastal habitats have been damaged from weirs blocking their breading migration. Jungle perch are a freshwater species that must have access to tidal estuaries to bread, as well as the young fingerlings needing to return to tropical freshwater to live.
After many years and adventures running the river in "Prop Boats" we tried out an OB Jet on a 10ft punt. It turned out that this little junker was capable of tricks we had never thought possible in a boat =)
And this is just a quick highlights video, we went far more extreme with it than what you see here :P
A promotional video I created for a friend of mine. Most of the video was shot on 3 waterproof HD cameras over a day. I didn't take a dedicated microphone with me and paid the price for being slack. The post editing took almost two weeks including the animated flag created from an image snapped from the side of his vehicle, and the re-mastering of the backing track. The backing track is from a 1990s digital synthesizer composition named "Train Station".

This is before I had invested in a jet drive and still running a propeller outboard. Large stretches of the river are only 15cm to 30cm deep. This is quite a feat to achieve with an outboard =)
Most people claim that only the first 8kms of river are accessible by boat and this video was created to prove that wrong. The camp site where we stayed overnight is about 60kms inland =D
It is a very scenic river to explore...
Norther rivers are home to the Sooty Grunter (Hephaestus fuliginosus ). They are not the best fish for eating, although I have earth baked a few under hot coals on more than one occasion ;) As a sporting fish they are fun on light tackle and usually give a hard fight.
I enjoy adventure time with my young-ens, and the river is always an adventure. We had an awesome weekend out and returned home tired and happy. Life is a journey to be enjoyed at every opportunity =)
My Custom 12ft Jet Boat build. This started out as a lightweight 12ft aluminum car topper. The hull is reinforced with 19mm round rods from front to rear as well as fiber reinforced Derakane laminated skid plates underneath. The power plant is a 40hp Yamaha with an Outboard Jet on the lower end giving it a 35mph top speed on flat water (It is not uncommon to tap 60mph coming down steep rapids). Internal is a custom built center console system with two inline seats.
This is out on the edge so don't try this at home kiddies =)
The second part of my videos done with HD sports cameras. We also had a new 12ft punt build out for this trip running a 30hp Outboard Jet. It was quite a lot slower in the water than mine with the 40hp. One of the benefits of the punt is that it can get down to about 2 inches of water without getting gravel though the jet, whereas my V hull needs at least 3 inches to be safe.
I am taping 30+mph on the spin outs and can't quite get the full 360 turn. I included a stack into the trees at the end, yup I mess up sometimes =)
This is a bit of a mash up from several trips. I was trying to get some freehand video of the 12ft punt that the owner dubbed "The River Truck". Driving and controlling a small Jet boat in shallow rock filled water is difficult enough. Doing this with one hand strapped to a video camera is just insane, still I managed to capture some good shots of the River Truck as shaky as they are.
How it looks when you spin out at 30mph =)
I have noticed some screen flicker and rendering issues while creating this page. It is bulked up with videos, so I will be keeping an eye on it.
