In the Axetale AU, Frisk first started a Genocide route through the Underground, influenced by
Chara’s attempted possession, but aborted the run after killing Papyrus and commenced a
Neutral run. Sans didn’t trust her, after her murder of his brother, though, and watched her very
closely throughout her journey, resulting in him being present to stop Flowey from taking the
human souls, but was not able to keep him from killing Asgore. Frisk remained in the
Underground, where Toriel emerged from the Ruins to rule the kingdom and enacted an effort to
find a new way to break the barrier, and twelve years passed.
During that time, Sans and Frisk reconciled, were married, and Frisk got pregnant, the monsters
grew closer and closer to finding a way to break the barrier without more murder, and Flowey
grew too desperate to wait any longer. He snuck into the palace one night, killed Toriel and stole
the human souls, and transformed into his Omega form, thereafter going on a rampage through
the capital, killing many before escaping to hide in Waterfall. The imperfect magic, the souls’
resistance, and Flowey’s inability to control his new power ripped a tear in the fabric of
spacetime, allowing the space between universes, termed the Void, to leak into the world and
slowly poison all magical creatures. It brought to bear the sickness called the Hunger, which
causes heightened aggression, paranoia, and insatiable hunger.
Sans, fearing Frisk would be targeted by both Flowey and the other monsters, took Toriel’s soul
and used it to eject Frisk from the Underground, sending her to seek out more souls to break
the barrier and help them all escape. She was assaulted and violated while searching, however,
landing her in a hospital, and when she tried to explain her mission to the doctors, she was
deemed crazy and sent to an asylum, where she was administered drugs to keep her
complacent. She was eventually freed by her mother, but was so weak and drug addled that
she was incapable of taking care of herself or continuing her mission, and when she gave birth
to the child she was carrying, she died shortly afterwards, all of her determination extinguished
The child was named Aliza, a child of strange magic, and spent most of her childhood on the
surface, aided by the mysterious red butterfly that she termed her familiar. It helped her compile
all of Frisk’s old notes, the soul canister she brought with her above, and Aliza finished her
mother’s mission, collecting all the souls she would need to free the monsters before venturing
to Mt. Ebbot. The Underground was not as Frisk left it, however… it had deteriorated
completely, in the fifteen years since she left, the Hunger running rampant through the once so
hopeful monster kingdom. It had left most of the population devastated, only the cleverest and
strongest yet living, and destroyed much of what the kingdom once was.
Aliza has her work cut out for her.
