Arvada West Wildcats Softball

Success is not created by one person but by a team that comes together as one. – Jillian Farrar

The Wildcat Softball program had another successful fall season in 2018. All 3 levels of our softball program found success on and off the field, and continued to build upon the long-standing tradition of Arvada West competing at the highest level of softball in Colorado! The Varsity team had a fun, successful 2018 season… After a 7-1 Jeffco League finish, the Cats earned their 6th straight post-season playoff berth and went on to win their Regional Tournament Championship (back to back years). This punched their ticket to compete again at the 5A State Softball Tournament!! Arvada West is looking to improve upon this success and make another push for a title, this fall!

Summer Workouts

The 2019 Arvada West Softball season is just around the corner! This summer we are going to continue offering a way to get in some extra softball work to prepare you before our season begins. We will be holding ‘open practice’ sessions at the Arvada West Softball Field a few mornings each week, with opportunities to focus on defense/glovework, live hitting, pitching/catching as well as some much needed conditioning each practice. Sessions are free of charge and will be facilitated by Arvada West coaching staff. We have big expectations for our 2019 teams, and this is a great opportunity to push yourself, physically and mentally; as well as meet current and future Wildcats and coaches, and start building some important bonding. **Please note– due to a prior commitment for Coach Millikan, the first week of workouts has been altered– we will meet Monday, Thursday & Friday that week. Sorry for any confusion. We will return to Tue, Wed, Thur the week of June 11th. Sorry for the confusion.

2019 Softball Tryout Dates

Tryouts begin on Monday, August 12th. Please arrive at the Arvada West Softball field by 3:00pm, to get checked in and to get your bib#. Tryouts begin at 3:30pm.

Monday, Aug 12th: We will be doing defense on day 1, followed by evaluations of pitchers and catchers. If you would like to tryout for either of these positions, plan on staying for a little bit after the rest of the group is done with defensive tryouts. We should be done around 6:00-6:30 on Monday evening.

Tuesday, Aug 13th: Hitting evaluation day. We will split up into two groups (more info to come), to get us thru hitting stations more efficiently. Group 1 will begin at 3:30, and Group 2 will begin at 4:45. Athletes will know which group they are in closer to time.

Wednesday, Aug 14th: Live scrimmage day. We will work the athletes thru live pitching, hitting, defense and base running opportunities. We will take advantage of as many opportunities to see the athletes perform as possible, so we will work until about 6:00-6:30 this night.

Preseason Skills Clinics

**Due to a schedule conflict- We will be holding our Skills Clinic (defense, hitting, conditioning, etc.) on Monday, July 29th & Tuesday July 30th; time TBA; and then a Pitchers and Catchers Clinic on Wednesday, July 31st and Thursday August 1st, TBA on time. I do apologize for this change. I know some of our athletes might be still playing in some big tournaments at that time, and we understand if that is a conflict. However, our hope is that we still see many of our new and returning athletes there who are available :) With that being said- for the week of August 5th- as things get closer and my schedule becomes clearer, I will post some ‘open field’ times for any athletes who want to come get in some extra work in preparation of tryouts the following week :)

I will also post a flyer for these clinics soon.
