Wrens are a family, Troglodytidae, of small brown passerine birds. The family includes 96 species and is divided into 19 genera. These jaunty songbirds occupy nearly every habitat except tundra in the New World, but are represented in the Old World by only a single, temperate woodland species. Seldom shy, wrens are often seen with their characteristically short tails cocked over their backs.
