Mission:
To find and fill the need in our community in order to build it up through a global perspective & collaborative approach.
What’s NHS & what are we about?
NHS stands for National Honor Society. It is a group of students who all share common interests in the four pillars: leadership, scholarship, character, and service. We are a collaborative group who works on strengthening our community and ourselves. It is our goal to be a positive impact in our community and make a difference for our peers and our surrounding community.
What do we do?
National Honor Society is involved in multiple events in the school as well as in the community. In the Fall semester we organize Trick or Treat Street, and Angel Tree. During the Fall semester, we will continue to put on more events, such as Eggstravaganza hosted at Arvada West, during Easter. We also make sure we are helping the community outside of Arvada West, through partnering with other schools and organizations. Our main goal as a group is to make sure we find and fill the needs in our community in order to build it up through a global perspective and collaborative approach.
Why should you join?
NHS is one of many ways that you can give back to, and nourish your community. Being a apart of something larger pushes yourself to maintain high standards in the four pillars. There are many opportunities to lead committees, projects, and events, in order to gain real world experience. This exclusive chance to be a part of something great is self-rewarding, as well as an opening opportunity for the future. Because NHS is a national club, there are many scholarships and awards given for being a part of something bigger.
How do you join?
Invitations to join NHS go out at the beginning of second semester your sophomore or junior year. To be invited, you need to maintain at least a 3.6 GPA. Once you have been invited, you must fill out the NHS interest form, which will be reviewed by a board of staff members. New members are inducted in February and, following that, members will be required to maintain a 3.6 GPA and complete 12 hours of community service, 12 Wildcat hours, and 6 tutoring hours.
