CTYC Chinatown Youth Centre
Bridging the Image between Youth Centre and Chinatown through Reinterpretation of Vernacular Architecture
CTYC is a mixed use typology consists of institution, office, retails and event spaces. The aim of the project is to design a youth centre in Chinatown through reinterpretation of vernacular design elements to reconcile the image making between new development and the historic town. The design adopted the strategies of BLEND, ADAPT and JOIN to reinterpret vernacular architecture in contemporary development in achieving the objectives of creating appropriate image making, enhancing place attachment and improving building’s connectivity.
