It’s a mix of both! I like to have a rough plan, things like major destinations, must-see sights, and key logistics—but I always leave room for spontaneity. Some of the best travel experiences happen when you embrace the unexpected, whether it’s stumbling upon a hidden gem, meeting amazing people, or saying yes to an adventure you never planned for. Flexibility keeps travel exciting!
My first travel experience was a study abroad programme in Spain, where I had a built-in group. Now, I travel often, and with friends busy with work or school, I usually go solo.
Staying in hostels is a great way to meet like-minded travelers, and even without plans, I always end up making friends along the way. Solo travel is far less intimidating than it seems!
Yes and no. This depends on what your definition of safety is. There are many places I would consider to be “safe” but there are other places I’ve been to that I’ve taken cautionary safety measures, or done more research on before going.
I feel like when people think a destination is "safe," they let their guard down and if that's a "bad" experience, they blame that they heard it was safe. Safe does not mean comfortable or you won't encounter different cultural norms that make you uncomfortable… and I think that’s where things get a little misconstrued.
Now, this is not me saying stop traveling or you shouldn’t travel solo as a woman—not by any means! In my experience, I’ve felt comfortable in most places I’ve visited and had a really great time meeting locals. However, when traveling around more conservative countries, I do make sure to dress more conservatively and respect their culture. I try not to flash my camera gear or valuables as well.
Not quite, I haven’t packed up my entire life into a backpack (yet)! But I travel as often as possible, squeezing in adventures whenever I can. My suitcase is basically always half-packed!
I’d say watching a sunrise at a breathtaking viewpoint—whether it's a mountain, beach, or city skyline. The peacefulness is unmatched. And for the thrill-seekers, don’t miss an exhilarating activity like skydiving, bungee jumping, or zip-lining! There's nothing like that rush of adrenaline while surrounded by stunning landscapes. It’s unforgettable!
Traveling is a priority for us, so we budget and plan accordingly. We both have jobs that help fund our adventures, but we also earn through media features, collaborations, and content creation. Partnering with brands, writing about our experiences, and sharing our travels on different platforms have allowed us to turn our passion into a source of income
How do you deal with language barriers?
I always learn a few basic phrases before I go, like "hello," "thank you," and "where is...?" Apps like Google Translate are lifesavers too. And don’t forget, a smile and hand gestures go a long way in breaking the language barrier!
