So!

It is public beneficiary scheme that introduced by Indian government in 15th June 2015. Government take a goal or target providing all citizens his own home in urban aria before 2022 end by this scheme. Now they also providing houses so many people and in future continue provide by government.

But ,

The Mission provides Central Assistance to the implementing agencies through States/Union Territories (UTs) and Central Nodal Agencies (CNAs) for providing houses to all eligible families/ beneficiaries against the validated demand for houses for about 1.12 cr. Mainly by this awas yojana government want encourage women empowerment from EWS and LIG unlike earlier schemes. So that when you got a house under this scheme the owner or co-owner can be older women of this family. Verticals of PMAY (Urban) A basket of options is adopted to ensure inclusion of a greater number of people depending on their income, finance and availability of land through following four options.

Government take target by this awas yojana providing 22 million houses before 2022 and 10 million and more target is archived by government. PMAY (U) has made a mandatory provision for the female head of the family to be the owner or co-owner of the house under this Mission.


In AWAS YOJANA government invest ₹439.22 billion for construction of 6,83,724 houses for poor urban people and central assistance commitment and only for CAC govt. provide ₹100.50 billion by April 2016.

This scheme complete by government in three different phases or steps as following:

  • Phase 1 PMAY : Cover 100 cities from April 2015 to March 2017.
  • Phase 2 PMAY : Cover additional 200 cities from April 2017 to March 2019.
  • Phase 3 PMAY : Cover the remaining cities from April 2019 to March 2022.

Main benefits under this PMAY scheme:-

  1. The houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) would be constructed through a technology that is eco-friendly.
  2. The features of PMAY are that the government will provide an interest subsidy of 6.5% (for EWS and LIG), 4% for MIG-I and 3% for MIG-II.
  3. Housing loans availed by the beneficiaries for a period of 20 years under credit link subsidy scheme (CLSS) from the start of a loan.
  4. While allotting ground floors in any housing scheme under PMAY, preference will be given to differently abled and older persons.
  5. This PMAY beneficiary family will comprise of husband, wife, unmarried sons and/or unmarried daughters.
  6. Awas yojana an adult earning member can be treated as a separate household.

History of awas yojana :

Shortly after Independence, the Government of India started a program to warm or provide people, and by 1960, around 500000 people were provided houses. In 1957, the Five Year Plans were launched by the Prime Minister under its purview of Village Housing. The unit was launched under which people were given loans to build houses up to ₹ 5000 and by the end of 1979 around 65000 houses had been constructed after that.

In 1985, Indira Gandhi Awas Yojana was launched by Shri Rajiv Gandhi, which gave further impetus to the program of providing houses to the people. Firstly this program was started for ST SC and lower class people but after some time it By expanding its scope, it was also made available to the people with BPL.

In the same sequence in 2015, Prime Minister Narendra Modi Launched this scheme so that this program went ahead and its objective was to provide affordable houses to the people and the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) program is currently going on.

Under the scheme, through the financial assistance of about 2 trillion by the central government, it is proposed to build about two crore houses to the lower and upper class and middle class people of urban and rural areas by 2022 and under this scheme these houses Loan is given by the government at low interest rates, in which subsidy is also received from the government and the government should complete this mission by more than half by 2019.

It is okay and there are some more missions that will be completed by 2022.

How to check beneficiary name list:

The list of beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) is updated from time to time, so if you apply within it, then you will have to check your list and after your name is included in the list, you can avail the benefit of this scheme. For this, you have to go to the official website of the housing scheme and by going there, follow the following steps so that you will get your list.

  1. First go to the website.
  2. Then click on Search Beneficiary.
  3. Then after the Aadhaar number is filled in the column appearing in the front.
  4. A list will open in front of you, if you have your name in it, then you can take advantage of this scheme.

Eligibility for awas yojana :

  • The income of those families is less than 300000 per day i.e. economically weaker families.
  • Families with low income group(LIG) whose income is between 300000 to 600000 can also avail this scheme.
  • The family whose annual income is between 600000 to 1200000 i.e. the middle class family(MIG 1) is also able to avail this scheme.
  • Those families whose dormancy is in the midst of lakh to 1200000 i.e. that middle class families(MIG 2) can also avail this scheme.
  • This scheme can be availed by a person who is not availing any housing scheme other than this scheme or he has not already taken a home loan.
  • Those families who do not have any house or land of their own will be partners to avail this scheme.

There are different types of schemes under this scheme, by which different categories of people will be able to avail the scheme under the schemes, the person who comes under the scheme will get the benefit of the same scheme. One can choose according to himself and avail this scheme.
