It started with a simple observation.
Genuine connection is harder to find than it should be.
Awâre began in Canberra in 2024 with one idea: what if there was a regular space to have the kinds of conversations that usually don't happen?
Not small talk. Not debates. Just open, honest dialogue about the things that actually occupy our minds: relationships, identity, purpose, what it means to live well.
What started as a handful of people at a park has grown into a consistent community. Hundreds of Canberrans have come through the circle over two years, newcomers to the city, long-term residents, people going through transitions, people just looking for something more than surface-level interaction.
Every session is free, every person is welcome.
Everyone has something worth saying
Listening is a skill worth practising
You don't have to agree, just stay curious
Better questions lead to better conversation
Hi, I'm Akash — founder of Awâre and your host at every circle.
I started Awâre because I kept noticing the same thing: it's surprisingly hard to have a real conversation, even with people you know.
We default to small talk not because we don't want depth, but because we don't have a structure that makes it feel safe.
Awâre is that structure. I'm glad you found it.
