Currently I am in my third and final year!
"Education is for improving the lives of others and for leaving your community and world better than you found it".
Marian Wright Edelman
While continuing my education, I finally understand what my role is as a physical therapist.
a teacher, a leader, a consultant, a collaborator and professional healthcare worker
I am now able to teach individuals with deficits or disabilities to not only be aware of, but to achieve their highest functional potential by increasing their confidence and abilities, and minimizing their dysfunctions through healing, movement, and education.
My favorite part of becoming a physical therapist is I have the chance to help guide people to where they want to be, to bring them confidence and to offer my skills to live their best quality of life.
It is our job as movement system experts to provide patients with the information and knowledge they need to make decisions about their own treatment.
It is my goal to help patients understand the why behind what we are doing and not just what they need to do.
The end of my journey as a DPT student is simply another stepping stone to begin my next journey.
Following graduation I plan on applying for a neurology residency to continue my education and further my career in becoming a Doctor of Physical Therapy with an NCS.
I am excited to see what my future holds and will make sure to carry every piece of knowledge I learned from both my school and social environment.
