Biodiversity, Ecology, and Evolution (BIOL2610)
This course is an introduction to the dynamic processes of living things. Major topics include the Mendelian genetics, mechanisms of evolution, ecology, and biological diversity.
Zoology (BIOL322)
Using a phylogenetic approach, this course explores the structure and function of animals.
Evolution (BIOL467)
Covers theory, historical background, population variation, natural selection, adaptation, speciation.
Special Topics (BIOL398/498)
Professional Development: Students identify routes to proposed careers (for example: faculty, health care, education, biotechnology, wildlife biologist positions), requirements for the next steps, and draft personal and/or professional statements.
Science Communication: The purpose of this course is to teach students how scientists communicate with one another. Students attend the Biology Department seminar series and write a 1-2 page summary about the seminar.
Scientific Curiosity: I often design a 1 credit course based on the student’s curiosity about a scientific problem. Recent projects were based on risk of COVID infection given various socio-economic factors. Students mine data-bases to do statistical analyses and write a report.
