My primary motivation of pursuing a scientific research career is to explore fascinating world of material science and nanotechnology and to understand the scientific aspects of structure –property correlation of the materials and how interesting physical property leads to different application potentials with the help of state of the art techniques.

More specifically I am much intrigued to the emerging class of materials in last decade called Perovskite Halide which is current interest as well as related to my my PhD Thesis. I spent my whole PhD tenure on perovskite halide system to study the modification of physical properties of these family of compounds under different external stimuli (like light, radiation, gas molecules etc) leading towards multi-functional application potential of these emerging materials.

Research Themes :

My research theme can be classified into two aspects.

Application Driven Research :In one part , I solely focused on the application oriented research by these novel kind of materials that includes fabrication of devices using novel paper electronics like photo-detector , solid state gas sensor ,radiation detector etc .In recent days I am trying to explore the some other applications like LED, FET ect by halide perovskites .

Basic Science of Halide Perovskites : In another aspect , I tried to understand the science behind such multi functional applications potentials behind these materials . For instance , gas sensing by halide perovskites are quite new and unique in a sense that apart from conventional optical & electrical methods it can traces toxic pollutants like ammonia just by a simple visual color change method. To get an integrated understanding of this fascinating behavior of gas sensing properties we performed theoretical MD simulations .In recent days I am also trying to explore structural , dielectric , transport properties to get better insight about the basic structure property correlation of these kind of compounds through techniques like Synchrotron XRD, Impedance Spectroscopy, Low temperature Resistivity measurements and Raman spectroscopy as well.

Activities on Transnational Research :

Apart from basic science research I am also interested in transnational research thorough filing patents, developing prototypes etc. In an association with a separately Incubation center named TRC (technical research center) in our institute I had been engaged in designing & developing solid state gas sensing devices. Within this area of interest I worked as a part of prototype developing, packaging for the sensing device and participated in Industry-Academia Meet organized at our S.N.Bose Centre .
