Avianca Airlines started its journey in 1919, and now its serves as the flag carrier airline of Colombia. Avianca operates from its headquarters located in Bogotá, D.C., and its central hub at El Dorado International Airport. The airline has the most extensive network of destinations in Latin America, which makes its second-largest airline in Latin America after LATAM of Chile. Avianca is the flagship of a group of eight Latin American airlines, whose operations are combined to function as one airline using a code-sharing system. On 5th December 2019, Avianca will celebrate its 100th anniversary, which makes its world's second oldest airline after KLM.
Unaccompanied Minor Service
Unaccompanied Minor policy of Avianca offers assistance for minors in for check-in process and boarding on-board. Once the minor handed to the airline, a team member of Avianca take care of the minor all the time until they successfully handed over to the parent or the guardian.
During the flight, every need of the kid is taken care of by the Aviana's representative. After the landing of the flight at the destination, the child is accompanied by the representative through baggage claim and immigration until they are safely handed over to the responsible person who's picking them up.
Restriction and Rules for Unaccompanied Minor
· The responsible adult for the kid must drop the minor to the desk at the origin or/and the destination airport.
· The person accompanying the kid must provide information to the Avianca personnel about the responsible adult picking up the kid at the final destination airport.
· The responsible adult for the kid must complete all procedures of the Department of Immigration in the countries of destination/ origin. The minor needs to carry all documents that are required for traveling.
· On the departure day, arrive with minor at the airport at least for 2 hours before departure flights within Colombia and arrive at least 3 hours before departure for all other international flights.
Eligibility to use this service
This service is available for children flying alone between 5-11 years of age.
· Minor between 5-14 years of ages flying alone from/to the USA required to purchase the service of Unaccompanied Minor.
· Minor between 5-17 years pf ages flying alone from/to Panama required to purchase the service of Unaccompanied Minor.
· Senior citizens (over 60 years old) and adults who require supervision have the option of using this service.
Choose your Cabin Class
There are three options of cabin classes in Avianca Airlines flight to choose from:-
· Economy
· Premium Economy
· Business Class
Note- there is no First class option available on this airline's flight.
