Bernardo Valenzuela joined The Hawk Nest November 2017, since then he is proud and honored to serve as our school principal. From campus operations to instructional leading, Principal Valenzuela holds himself responsible for many responsibilities on campus. He received his Master of Arts from the University of Redlands, following that he attended UC Berkeley where he received his BA in Political Science. Principal Valenzuela has worked in education for 23 years and has acquired a core belief that all students can achieve their biggest dreams regardless of their socioeconomic status; all it takes is the right support and guidance to navigate them. Principal Valenzuela views a collaborative school environment as the key to creating successful teachers and students. He believes partnerships with parents and community partners are essential to enriching the experience at Arroyo Valley High School

Kristy Castro joined the AVHS team in April 2019. Before her start at Arroyo Valley High School, she worked in secondary education for two years and then worked at Pacific High School for 11 years from 2005 till 2016. Kristy Castro focuses on academics, facilities, custodians, and overall student achievement. She loves the community of San Bernardino in which she resides and works in. Kristy Castro is happily willing to help anyone in hopes to achieve hope and greater success in San Bernardino.

Gregory Alexander was welcomed to AVHS as a Vice Principal in July 2019. He primarily focuses on authoritative discipline, Special Education, the JROTC program, and attendance. He promotes a positive culture and academic achievement. Prior to AVHS he worked for the Ontario-Montclair School District for 6 years from 2013 to 2019. He has been married for 17 years and has two kids. Gregory Alexander is excited for his new journey at AVHS and his continuous strive towards campus achievement

Steven Ryser has served AVHS for 4 years; he joined The Hawk Nest in 2016 and since then has worked on improving the staff’s skills and knowledge. In addition, he provides support to create successful students. Prior to joining the AVHS team, he taught Math at Golden Valley Middle School from 1998 till 2008, consequently, he taught Math at Pacific High School from 2008 up until 2015 and was a Resource Teacher in 2015. Steven Ryser has been married for 26 years to his high school sweetheart, has 4 kids and on his free time enjoys the craft of woodworking.
