I am a native of Olive Branch, MS, and I am a senior at Lewisburg High School. I am very active in my community and on campus, and one of my main contributions is my work in my school's broadcasting network, Patriot Vision, my sophomore through senior year. I joined Patriot Vision my sophomore year after trying out at the end of my freshmen year. I had no idea what I was getting into when I first joined. Even as a freshman, Patriot Vision was in my life because I saw it every morning I went to school, and it was talked about quite often because of the memorable and humorous skits and PSAs released. In class, we would go on computers and watch the old videos on PV’s website because we found them hilarious. I knew then I wanted to be a part of that creation process, so I decided to go for it despite the fact that I had no expectations for what was to come. Now, I definitely do not regret that decision.
Patriot Vision began live-broadcasting our daily episodes the same year I joined. I joined the second semester, and I have never known the episodes any other way than how we do them now. Before, the episodes were pre-recorded clips edited together, and now the episodes are broadcasted live in every classroom throughout the school before 2nd block everyday. We spend the very first block of the day (which starts at 7:25 a.m. and ends at 8:57) compiling information content, recording and editing stories, creating and organizing graphics, writing and proof-reading scripts, and rehearsing to get ready for the 3-5 minute episode that we only have one shot of getting perfect.
I anchor and produce for episodes, and I also create reports and edit graphics to be shown during the episodes. My portfolio includes several episodes I anchored over the three years I’ve been in PV, reports I’ve written, recorded, and edited, episodes I have produced, and the podcast I was a part of this year.
This portfolio contains three years of broadcast work through Lewisburg High School's Patriot Vision. See my online resume for a complete list of my accomplishments, campus involvement, and community service while a student at Lewisburg High School.
Each month, Patriot Vision surprises one student with a tribute video to reveal the Student of the Month. When the administration chose me for this honor, I was caught off guard to see this video produced by the team without my knowledge. This award meant a lot to me because I always enjoy surprising others with this award. Check it out! (I love the reporter, Natalie!!!)
