Welcome!

Hi! My name is Stephanie Sheridan and I am a Spanish teacher. In July of 2018, I moved to California where I am now teaching four sections of Heritage Spanish. All of my students grew up hearning Spanish at home, but they are in my class to learn how to better read and write the language. Being in California and teaching this class is a completely new experience for me.

I think that new experiences are important, and so therefore I was really happy to learn that the language department at my new school has a project in which students are required to study and/or participate in cultural elements outside of class. They can choose from an endless list of options! The students were not as excited about this project as me...

To show them the importance of having diverse experiences, I have decided that I am going to participate in the project as well. I posed the following question to them: What experiences should I have to better learn about California and the latino culture? On this website, I will document the suggestions they gave me, as well as other things that I try!
