This Privacy Policy explains how Avena ("Avena," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use the Avena mobile application (the "App"). Avena helps parents and caregivers plan meals and track food introduction for their children. By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

Information we collect
We collect the following information so the App can function and provide a personalized experience:
Account information — the email address (and, if you use a sign-in provider, the associated identifier) you use to create and access your account.
Child and family profile information — details you choose to enter about the children in your care, such as a name or nickname, date of birth or age range, and any dietary notes or allergen information you record.
App content you create — meal plans, recipes, foods marked as tried or untried, allergen-introduction progress, and similar planning data.
Technical and usage data — basic information needed to operate the App reliably, such as device type, app version, and diagnostic or error logs.
We do not intentionally collect sensitive medical records, and Avena is a planning tool, not a medical device. Any health-related notes you enter (such as allergens) are stored solely to power the App's features for you.
How we use your information
To create and manage your account and keep you signed in.
To provide, personalize, and improve the App's meal-planning and food-tracking features.
To save and sync your data across your sessions and devices.
To maintain security, prevent abuse, and diagnose and fix technical problems.
To respond to your questions and support requests.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
How your information is stored
Your data is stored using Supabase, our backend and database provider, which hosts data on secure cloud infrastructure. Access to your account is protected by authentication, and data is transmitted over encrypted connections. While no method of storage or transmission is completely secure, we take reasonable measures to protect your information against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse.
Sharing and third parties
We share information only with service providers that help us operate the App, and only to the extent necessary to provide their service. These currently include:
Supabase — authentication, database, and storage.
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the App. If our list of providers changes (for example, if we add analytics or AI features), we will update this policy.
Children's privacy
Avena is designed for parents and caregivers, who must be adults. The App is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly allow children to create accounts. Information recorded about a child is entered by the responsible adult account holder and is used only to provide the App's features to that account holder. If you believe a child has created an account, please contact us and we will address it.
Data retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the App. You may delete your data at any time as described below.
Your rights and choices
You can access, correct, or delete the information associated with your account from within the App. You may also request that we delete your account and associated data entirely.
Account and data deletion
To request deletion of your account and all associated data, email us at sujatha.ramakrishnan.7@gmail.com with the subject "Delete my account," or use the in-app account deletion option where available. We will process verified deletion requests within a reasonable period.
International data transfers
Your information may be stored and processed in countries other than your own. Where this happens, we take steps to ensure your information continues to be protected in line with this policy.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes may be communicated within the App.
