October 2020 Newsletter
Hope everyone has had a good growing summer. A big thank you for everyone who donated spare crops, these went to either Broome Place or Elizabeth Gardens. Had some lovely grateful feedback of how much nicer home grown produce tastes plus it helped those who were not able to get out to the shops.
Water as we approach winter months the water pipes will be turned off at the end of the month until April next year.
Rubbish If you are tidying your plot for the winter can you please make sure ALL your rubbish is taken home to be disposed, as kind as it is we do not need any surplus pots, soil, bags etc. Recently items have been dumped near the bottom gate. Also a gentle reminder/advise, do not leave valuables in your sheds, especially over winter when less people are working the plots to keep an eye out for unauthorised visitors.
Soil Should anyone need any topsoil/subsoil there are spare bags by the bottom gate close to the raised beds. Please help yourself.
The committee meet every month, trying to improve our society, if you ever need help/advise/ideas or would like to put something to the committee please make sure you speak to any of the committee members. The committee are constantly ensuring the allotment society runs safely, efficiently and enjoyable. During the winter, some committee will be measuring the plots, to make sure these are within the guidelines as a few having been reported to be creeping and becoming far too big. Also various work days/parties will be active, please if you are able to help or work alone helping make yourself known, (many hands make light work).
Bonfires, 4th, 5th & 6th November, bonfires will be permitted. Between the hours of 4 – 9pm. Please can you be respectful to neighbours and have the fires the furthest from any perimeters. Also check for any wildlife prior to lighting the fires. Especially hedgehogs.
Lockdown Please make sure you are safe and only have your family/friends bubble on your plot. With the water turned off shortly, make sure you have hand sanitiser. Should there be any change please check the notice boards.
As things start to go quiet over the winter months, I will not be writing another newsletter until next year. So thank you to all committee members, for their continued “in the background” work and to you all plot holders for you understanding during this awful virus. We work as a team, should you need any help please do not hesitate to ask. Please stay safe and have a lovely Christmas.
HAPPY GROWING AND STAY SAFE..
