We are looking for a summer student worker who is currently a graduate student at TAMUK for 3-weeks in July [specifically from July 8 - July 26] who will assist Dr. Mishra in mentoring community college and undergraduate students on a research project that needs expertise in AI/ML. Research Assistantship Position: Dr. Avdesh Mishra, an assistant professor in the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Department at Texas A&M University-Kingsville is looking for two (2) talented, strongly motivated, creative, and hard-working students to assist him in an area of Cybersecurity, Machine Learning, and Artificial Intelligence to solve interesting Cyber Intelligence problems.
Selection Criteria: Superior analytic ability, programming skills, a foundation in algorithms, and good writing skills will be needed. Student applicants with some background in Cybersecurity, Cyber Intelligence, Artificial Intelligence, and Machine Learning as well as past research experience and conference and/or journal publication(s) will be given higher preference. Additionally, the applicant must be either a U.S. Permanent Resident or U.S. Citizen. One student hired must be a Hispanic student.
Payment: An undergraduate student will be paid a bi-weekly stipend. The graduate student will be paid a bi-weekly stipend along with fringe and insurance benefits.
Project Description: The team will work on developing effective AI/ML-based methods to detect black-box-based model probing attack on on-device AI models. The project will be conducted in collaboration with a team of researchers at Texas A&M University Corpus Christi (TAMUCC). The students selected will be involved in research, presentation, travel to Corpus Christi to attend collaboration meetings, and travel to conferences to present research outcomes. This project is funded by CAHSI and Google.

Three (3) Graduate Research Assistant Positions (Ph.D. Positions)

Research Assistantship Position: The team of faculties including Dr. Mais Nijim, Dr. Ayush Goyal, and Dr. Avdesh Mishra from the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Department at Texas A&M University-Kingsville is looking for three (3) talented, strongly motivated, creative, and hard-working Ph.D. students in Engineering to work in an area of Cybersecurity, Machine Learning, and Artificial Intelligence to solve interesting Cyber Intelligence problems.
Selection Criteria: Superior analytic ability, programming skills, a foundation in algorithms, and good writing skills will be needed. A graduate student who wants to consider this area as his/her Ph.D. dissertation is strongly encouraged to apply. Ph.D. student applicants with some background in Cybersecurity, Cyber Intelligence, Artificial Intelligence, and Machine Learning as well as past research experience and conference and/or journal publication(s) will be given higher preference.
Payment: The project will pay the student a monthly stipend and cover tuition and fees.
Project Description: The team is interested in supervised, unsupervised, semi-supervised, deep federated learning and developing generative vs. discriminative models for cyber intelligence applications. The long-term goal is to apply machine learning, deep learning, and federated learning technologies to solve complex cybersecurity problems such as cyber-attack detection on industrial control systems and smart grids.
