The Computer Science department at the undergraduate level was established in 1988. The department provides 3 undergraduate programs leading to BSc (MECs, MPCs, MSCs).The department has 6 full-time faculty members in specialized area. There are two fully equipped computer labs having computing resources providing one-to-one access to students. The lab is ably powered with latest software applications.
Every year a good number of Computer Science students get placed in various IT firms or pursue higher studies in India and abroad.
The students are drawn from different strata of society and the department conducts remedial classes for students.
Every year the department conducts extension lectures on various topics by the senior and experienced faculties from different institutions.
The department of Computer science has been actively involved in contributing to the enhancement of overall computer literacy within the college, by conducting “Faculty Development programme” at faculty level and for administrative staff.
Google platform (classrooms, forms, sheets, apps) are being used by faculty and is contributing to quick and ease of access to enrollment (for courses), disseminating information, and teaching learning process.
Students submitted in-house projects as part of extended learning and application related to their area of study.
The Department organized a Workshop on “WEB DESIGNING AND DEVELOPMENT” for students by Mr.Sai Sarath Srinivasvonthethu, App.Devp. on 02-02-2019.
The faculty member of the Department published 1 research paper in UGC certified journals.
Every year the department conducts an activity named "TechXtreme" and organize programmes like Poster presentation, power point presentation, Quiz, Programme coding. Poster and Power point presentations develops student ability to communicate perceptively and concisely - an important workplace skill.
Career Guidance programming help individuals acquire the knowledge, skills & experience necessary to identify options , explore alternatives and succeed in society.It is a comprehensive development program designed to assist individuals in making & implementing informed education & occupational choices. This program develops an individual's competency in self-knowledge, education & occupational exploration and career planning.
Department conducts regularly to improve employability skills by conducting exercises from well known web sites. And also carry class seminars and encourage students involvement to improve their comprehension on subjects.
The faculty members of the Department attended various workshops, seminars, conferences and faculty development programmes to learn from others and improve our own skills and knowledge about the field to get an opportunity to broaden our thinking and knowledge by listening to new ideas and theories and recent trends related to our field.
A bridge course for newly admitted students is conducted by departments every year. The main objective of the course is to bridge the gap between subjects’s studied at Pre University level and subjects they would study at graduation level.
