If you want a dedicated system for shared family viewing with expandable group listening and ambient awareness, choose Avantree HT3831; if you need a lightweight pair with exceptional battery life and low latency for personal gym sessions, choose Domary Comfortable Dual.
• Avantree HT3831: Its biggest strength is the ability to expand up to ten headphones for group settings like nursing homes or families, featuring specific EQ modes for clear dialogue. The trade-off is its shorter 6-hour battery life per charge and in-ear design that prioritizes isolation over all-day comfort. This pick is for households where multiple people need to watch TV together without disturbing others.
• Domary Comfortable Dual: It shines with an impressive 40-hour battery life and ultra-low latency under 40 milliseconds, making it ideal for active use. The trade-off is that it is limited to two users and lacks the specialized hearing-assist features like independent L/R balance found in the other model. This pick is for individuals seeking the best comfortable bone conduction headphones for gym environments or long solo viewing marathons.
The Avantree HT3831 is engineered primarily as a solution for accessibility and community listening rather than a standard consumer entertainment device. If your household includes seniors who struggle to follow TV conversations, this unit addresses that directly through its specialized audio architecture. The inclusion of three pre-paired headphones out of the box allows a small group to start immediately, but the real power lies in its expandability. You can connect up to ten headphones simultaneously, which makes it a rare option for larger families, church groups, or nursing home facilities where synchronized audio is essential.
Audio clarity is not just a feature here; it is the core function. The device offers three distinct Equalizer (EQ) modes: Clear Dialogue, Bass Boost, and Balanced. For users who find speech muddled by background noise or music, the "Clear Dialogue" setting actively enhances vocal frequencies. Furthermore, the Ambient Mode is a critical safety and convenience feature. It allows the user to hear surrounding sounds, such as a doorbell ringing or a child calling from another room, without taking the earbuds off. This keeps the user connected to their environment while still enjoying private audio.

For those with uneven hearing loss, the HT3831 provides a level of customization that most wireless headphones simply do not offer. Each individual headphone comes with its own volume control and Left/Right balance adjustment. This means one person can boost the left channel if they have better hearing on the right, ensuring a balanced experience regardless of their specific auditory needs. However, the battery performance reflects its focus on short-term, high-intensity usage rather than endurance. With an average battery life of 6 hours, it requires frequent recharging unless you utilize the swap-in spare battery feature to ensure continuous play. The design relies on an in-ear placement with rounded tips, which creates sound isolation but may feel less breathable during extended physical activity compared to open-ear designs.
The Domary Comfortable Dual takes a different approach, focusing on endurance, speed, and personal comfort. While it also targets seniors and those needing clear audio, its specifications point toward a lifestyle that demands longevity and mobility. The standout specification here is the 40-hour playtime on a single charge. This is a massive leap forward compared to the competition. For someone who watches TV late into the night or uses the headphones for hours at the gym, knowing they won't run out of power mid-movie is a game-changer. The fast charging capability via the transmitter base further ensures that downtime is virtually non-existent.
Latency is often a dealbreaker for anyone trying to enjoy sports or action movies where lip-sync matters, and Domary has addressed this with its latest 5.4 technology. By pushing transmission speeds to under 40 milliseconds, the audio stays perfectly locked to the video, even when the viewer moves around the room. The stated transmission range of up to 30 meters gives you significant freedom to walk to the kitchen or sit outside without losing connection. This makes it an excellent candidate for the best open ear earbuds for gym use, allowing users to stay aware of their surroundings while maintaining a secure fit and clear audio link.
Comfort is another pillar of the Domary design. The manufacturer highlights soft ear cushions and lightweight materials intended to prevent fatigue during extended wear. Unlike models that rely on heavy clamping force, this design aims to be unobtrusive. It supports both optical and AUX connections, offering flexibility for older TVs that lack Bluetooth, though it does not explicitly mention the complex multi-user expansion capabilities of the Avantree. It is built for one or two people who value a seamless, uninterrupted connection over the ability to host a large gathering. The lack of explicit "hearing assist" modes like L/R balance suggests it is more of a general-purpose premium audio device than a medical-grade assistive tool.

I would personally buy the Domary Comfortable Dual if my primary goal was using these devices for the gym or for my own personal entertainment throughout the day. The sheer advantage of 40 hours of battery life and the stability of the low-latency connection make it far superior for active, mobile lifestyles. I recommend the Domary Comfortable Dual because it removes the anxiety of running out of power and provides the synchronization needed for modern media consumption. However, if your situation involves helping multiple elderly family members share a living room experience, the Avantree HT3831 remains the only logical choice due to its unique group capabilities and hearing-specific adjustments. For a single user prioritizing comfort and endurance, especially for gym activities, the Domary wins.
The Domary Comfortable Dual is designed with lightweight materials and a stable connection suitable for gym use, while the Avantree HT3831 is optimized for stationary TV viewing and may feel less secure during intense movement.
Yes, the Avantree HT3831 features independent Left/Right balance controls on each headset to accommodate different hearing levels, a feature not specified for the Domary model.
You can expect up to 40 hours of continuous playtime with the Domary Comfortable Dual, compared to approximately 6 hours for the Avantree HT3831 before needing a recharge.
Both models support Optical and AUX connections for compatibility with older televisions, though the Domary also mentions direct connectivity options depending on TV support.
