Hi! I'm Ava Stango!
I am an honors student at Watertown High School in Connecticut. I plan to attend Quinnipiac University to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic & Interactive Design, followed by a Master’s degree in Producing for Film & TV. I currently serve as the Editor-In-Chief of my school’s student-run newsletter, The Warrior’s Wire.
As a designer, I am proficient in Adobe software such as, InDesign and Illustrator. I love creating posters and flyers for event for programs I am apart of such as band and volleyball.
Music is a major part of my life. I play the tuba in the Wind Ensemble and in the Pit Orchestra for the school’s musical productions. For two years, I directed the all-student Pit Orchestra for the fall plays, helping bring live music into the world of theater at my school. I was honored to receive a Halo Award for “Best Incidental or Original Music in a Play,” and I was also recognized with the CIAC/CAS Student Performing Arts Spotlight Award. In addition, I run the Instagram account for the music department, helping promote performances and highlight student achievements.
I am also deeply involved in athletics. I play on the girls’ varsity volleyball team at my high school, where I serve as a captain. I specialize as a defensive specialist and libero, and I have competed at the club level for four years.
Beyond music and athletics, I am committed to leadership and service. I am the president of the National Technical Honor Society, where I organize and schedule monthly meetings, take attendance, and develop monthly plans for fundraisers and club activities. I also serve as an officer of the Tri-M Music Honor Society, creating promotional materials for our annual Coffee House performance.
Additionally, I am a delegate for the Model United Nations club, where I research global issues and my assigned country’s policies, practice public speaking, and collaborate with other delegates during conferences to negotiate resolutions.
