Import runs from others
An overview of the app can be seen in this video on youtube.
The data collection is based on GPS/GNSS data and is compatible with various devices. Some of which connect directly to the app for the highest quality data collection. The solutions which provide the best quality data are:
RaceBox Mini
RaceBox Mini S
RaceBox Micro
Opensource DIY GPS module (under $50!)
RaceCapture Coming Soon!
The next best options would be any GPS device which directly pairs to an iPhone. However, even devices that claim 10hz may not transmit data at 10hz to the app (due to how iOS manages the connection) so the devices listed above are strongly encouraged.
Finally, the internal phone GPS will only transmit data at a rate of 1hz. This is too low for any motorsports applications so the app offers a sensor fusion algorithm to interpolate between the slow 1hz GPS readings with the phone's internal IMU data. The data quality will be noticeably worse than an external device but we hope that it can at least be useful for some basic data analysis. The sensor fusion algorithm can also be used for external devices that at internally managed by iOS.
The RaceBox device and the DIY GPS module both provide excellent data quality for run analysis. The orange trace is from a RaceBox Mini and the blue trace is from the DIY device.
