Privacy Policy for AutoSpeech
Last Updated: December 2025
1. Introduction AutoSpeech ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how our Chrome Extension manages your data. We operate with a "privacy-first" approach: your data remains on your device.
2. Data Collection and Usage To function properly, AutoSpeech requires access to specific information, specifically:
Authentication Tokens: The extension temporarily accesses your local ChatGPT session token (Authorization Header) solely to authenticate requests to the text-to-speech API (backend-api/synthesize) on your behalf.
User Input: We process the text you paste into the extension to send it to ChatGPT for audio generation.
3. Data Storage and Protection
Local Storage Only: All authentication tokens and user preferences (such as selected voice, language, delay settings) are stored locally in your browser's localStorage and chrome.storage.local.
No Data Transmission: We DO NOT collect, store, or transmit your authentication tokens, personal messages, or audio files to our servers or any third-party servers. All processing happens directly between your browser and the ChatGPT service.
4. Third-Party Services This extension interacts directly with chatgpt.com (OpenAI). We are not affiliated with OpenAI. Please refer to OpenAI's privacy policy for information on how they handle your data on their platform.
