Introduction
Auto SMS Scheduler ("we," "our," or "the App") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use our Android application. By downloading, installing, or using Auto SMS Scheduler, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
Auto SMS Scheduler is a task reminder application that allows you to schedule SMS text message reminders to be sent to your phone contacts at specific dates, times, and frequencies. You can set one-time or recurring reminders (every minute, hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, yearly, or custom intervals) and optionally assign contacts from your phone's address book to receive the SMS.
Information We Collect
1. Information You Provide Directly
When you create reminders in the App, you provide the following information:
Reminder Details: Title, message text, date, time, and frequency settings.
Contact Information: Names and phone numbers of contacts you select from your device's address book to receive SMS reminders.
2. Information Collected Automatically
Device Information: Basic device information may be collected by third-party advertising services (Google AdMob) for the purpose of serving relevant advertisements.
Ad-Related Data: Google AdMob may collect device identifiers, IP addresses, and usage data for ad personalization and analytics. Please refer to Google's Privacy Policy for details.
3. Information We Do NOT Collect
We do not collect your personal identity information (name, email, address).
We do not collect your location data.
We do not collect or store your full contact list — only the specific contacts you choose for each reminder.
We do not transmit your reminder data, SMS content, or contact information to any external server.
We do not read, access, or store your incoming SMS messages.
We do not use any analytics or tracking SDKs beyond Google AdMob.
Permissions We Use and Why
Auto SMS Scheduler requires the following Android permissions to function properly. Each permission is used solely for its stated purpose:
📱 SEND_SMS (Send SMS Messages)
Purpose: To send scheduled SMS text message reminders to the contacts you select.
When Used: Only when a reminder is triggered at its scheduled time and you have assigned one or more contacts to that reminder.
Data Handling: SMS messages are sent directly from your device through your mobile carrier. We do not intercept, store, or transmit the content of these messages to any server.
👥 READ_CONTACTS (Read Your Contacts)
Purpose: To allow you to browse and select contacts from your phone's address book when creating a reminder.
When Used: Only when you tap "Add Contact" in the reminder creation screen.
Data Handling: We only read contact names and phone numbers for display in the contact picker. Only the contacts you explicitly select are stored locally as part of your reminder. Your full contact list is never copied, stored, or transmitted.
🔔 POST_NOTIFICATIONS (Show Notifications) — Android 13+
Purpose: To display notification alerts when reminders are triggered, informing you that an SMS has been sent or showing self-reminder notifications.
When Used: When a scheduled reminder fires at its designated time.
Data Handling: Notifications are displayed locally on your device only. No notification content is transmitted externally.
⏰ SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM / USE_EXACT_ALARM (Schedule Exact Alarms)
Purpose: To schedule reminders to fire at the exact date and time you specify, ensuring precise and reliable delivery.
When Used: When you save a new or edited reminder with an active status.
Data Handling: Alarm scheduling is handled entirely by the Android system on your device. No data is transmitted.
🔄 RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED (Run at Startup)
Purpose: To reschedule all your active reminders after your device restarts, so you don't lose any scheduled reminders due to a reboot.
When Used: Automatically when your device boots up after being turned off or restarted.
Data Handling: No data is transmitted. The App simply reads your locally stored reminders and re-registers them with the Android alarm system.
💡 WAKE_LOCK (Prevent Phone from Sleeping)
Purpose: To ensure the device stays awake long enough to process and send an SMS when a reminder is triggered, even if the screen is off.
When Used: Briefly when a reminder alarm fires.
Data Handling: No data is collected or transmitted.
📳 VIBRATE (Vibrate the Device)
Purpose: To provide haptic feedback when a reminder notification is displayed.
When Used: When a reminder notification is shown.
Data Handling: No data is collected or transmitted.
🌐 INTERNET (Internet Access)
Purpose: Required by Google AdMob to load and display banner advertisements within the App.
When Used: When the App displays advertisement banners.
Data Handling: Internet access is used exclusively for loading ads. Your reminder data, contacts, and SMS content are never transmitted over the internet.
📶 ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE (Check Network Status)
Purpose: Required by Google AdMob to check network connectivity before attempting to load advertisements.
When Used: When the App checks if an internet connection is available for loading ads.
Data Handling: No personal data is collected through this permission.
🖥️ USE_FULL_SCREEN_INTENT (Full-Screen Alarm Display)
Purpose: To display alarm reminders as a full-screen activity that appears over the lock screen, ensuring you never miss an important reminder.
When Used: When a reminder with the alarm feature enabled is triggered at its scheduled time.
Data Handling: No data is collected or transmitted. This permission only controls how the alarm notification is displayed on your screen.
🪟 SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW (Display Over Other Apps)
Purpose: Used as a fallback to display alarm reminders over other apps when the full-screen intent permission is not available (Android 14+).
When Used: Only when a reminder alarm fires and the full-screen notification permission has not been granted by the user.
Data Handling: No data is collected or transmitted. This permission is solely used to ensure alarm visibility.
⚙️ FOREGROUND_SERVICE (Run Foreground Service)
Purpose: To ensure reliable alarm processing by keeping the App active in the foreground briefly while an alarm is being handled.
When Used: Briefly when a reminder alarm fires, to prevent the system from stopping the alarm process.
Data Handling: No data is collected or transmitted.
How the App Works
Auto SMS Scheduler operates entirely on your device:
You create a reminder — set a title, message, date, time, frequency, and optionally select contacts.
The App schedules an alarm using Android's AlarmManager at the exact time you specified.
When the alarm fires, the App sends the SMS directly from your device using Android's SmsManager (if SMS permission is granted), or opens your default messaging app with the message pre-filled (fallback mode).
For recurring reminders, the App automatically calculates and updates the next scheduled date and time, so the reminder card always shows when the next SMS will be sent.
For one-time reminders, the reminder is marked as completed after the SMS is sent.
Data Storage and Security
Local Storage Only
All your reminder data (titles, messages, dates, times, frequencies, and selected contact information) is stored locally on your device using Android SharedPreferences. Your data is:
Never uploaded to any cloud server or external database.
Never shared with third parties (except as described in the Advertising section below).
Protected by the Android operating system's built-in app data sandboxing.
Backup and Restore Feature
The App provides a backup and restore feature that allows you to:
Export your reminders as a JSON file to a location you choose (e.g., Google Drive, local storage).
Import reminders from a previously exported JSON file.
These backup files are created and managed entirely by you. We do not have access to your backup files. You are responsible for the security of any exported backup files.
