## Overview
AutoSEO is a Chrome extension for WordPress content teams. It helps users:
- optimize existing WordPress draft posts for SEO
- improve SEO headlines for existing draft posts
- research Google Trends topic ideas
- draft new WordPress blog posts from approved topic ideas
AutoSEO only works after a user interacts with the extension and configures a WordPress site URL.
## What Data The Extension Accesses
To perform its requested tasks, AutoSEO may access:
- the user-configured WordPress site URL
- WordPress admin draft pages and post editor pages
- post titles, slugs, body content, SEO scores, SEO issues, focus keywords, meta descriptions, categories, tags, and excerpts
- topic research prompts entered by the user
- Google Trends result data related to the user-requested topic research
## How Data Is Used
AutoSEO uses this data only to provide the extension's core functionality:
- read WordPress draft content and SEO signals
- build rewrite prompts
- send prompts to user-selected AI websites the user already uses in the browser
- apply returned SEO content back into WordPress draft posts
- research topic ideas and save a downloadable report for the user
## Third-Party Services
Depending on the user's selected workflow, AutoSEO may open and interact with:
When the user runs an SEO, headline, or topic generation task, relevant prompt content may be sent to these websites through the user's own browser session.
## Data Storage
AutoSEO stores limited settings locally in the browser, such as:
- configured website URL
- target SEO score
- retry counts and provider choice
- headline settings
- topic settings
- current automation status
This data is stored using Chrome extension local storage.
## Data Sharing
AutoSEO does not sell user data.
AutoSEO does not use collected data for advertising, profiling, or unrelated analytics.
AutoSEO only transmits data when needed to complete a user-requested workflow involving WordPress, ChatGPT, Perplexity, or Google Trends.
## Security
AutoSEO is intended to run locally in the user's browser. It does not include its own remote backend in this repository.
Users are responsible for maintaining secure access to their WordPress admin and third-party AI accounts.
## User Control
Users control:
- which website URL to use
- whether to run SEO updates, headline updates, or topic workflows
- whether to generate draft blogs from topic ideas
- whether to keep using the extension
Users can remove the extension at any time and clear Chrome extension storage.
