1. What is this certificate programme about?

A 10-day immersive certificate programme in robotics and autonomous systems that combines theory, lab exposure, and simulation-based hands-on projects.

2. Who is organizing the programme?

Faculty from the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad and Faculty from the Department of Computer Science at George Mason University, Virginia, United States.

3. What is the duration of the programme?

10 days (July 6 - July 15, 2026) (full-time, in-person).

4. Is the programme online or offline?

The programme is fully offline and conducted on campus.

5. How many seats are available?

Maximum of 30 participants.

1. Who can apply?

UG, PG, and research students from engineering and allied disciplines, as well as industry personnel working in R&D related to the field. 

2. Which branches are eligible?

Students from:

• Mechanical Engineering

• Aerospace Engineering

• Electrical Engineering

• Electronics and Communication

• Computer Science

• Mechatronics

• Instrumentation

• Robotics / AI related interdisciplinary programmes

3. Is prior robotics experience required?

No. Basic programming knowledge is recommended.

4. Is there any minimum academic requirement?

Selection is based on an entrance examination.

1. Is there an entrance examination for this programme?

Yes. All applicants are required to appear for an online programming-based entrance examination.

2. Why is an entrance examination required?

The programme involves intensive hands-on technical work and limited seats. The entrance examination helps assess programming aptitude and ensures participants are adequately prepared.

3. How do I apply for the entrance examination?

Applications must be submitted through the official Google site.

4. What is the format of the entrance examination?

The examination will be conducted online and will assess:

• Programming fundamentals

• Logical reasoning

• Analytical thinking

• Fundamentals of Calculus

• Fundamentals of Probability and Statistics

5. What programming language will be used for the exam?

6. What happens after the entrance exam?

Shortlisted candidates will receive a formal selection email with registration instructions.

7. Can I directly register by paying the programme fee?

No. Registration is only open to shortlisted candidates after successful completion of the entrance examination process.

1. Do I need to bring my own laptop?

Yes, bringing a personal laptop is mandatory.

2. What are the minimum laptop specifications?

Recommended:

• 8 GB RAM minimum (16 GB preferred)

• At least 20 GB free storage 

• Functional Wi-Fi support

3. Which operating system is preferred?

Ubuntu

4. Should I install ROS 1 or ROS 2?

The programme will use ROS 2. You will be doing this during the Program.

5. Will installation instructions be shared beforehand?

Yes, detailed setup instructions will be shared before the programme begins.

6. Will technical support be provided for installation?

Yes, support sessions will be arranged.

1. What will be covered in the first week?

Theory sessions on:

• Robotics fundamentals

• Kinematics

• Control

• Perception

• Autonomous navigation

• Path Planning

• Motion Planning

• ROS2 fundamentals 

2. What happens in the second week?

 Participants will:

• Tour research labs

• Interact with ongoing robotic platforms

• Work on simulation-based team projects

3. Will there be hands-on work?

Yes, participants will work on guided simulation-based autonomous robotics projects.

4. Will there be team projects?

Yes. Participants will work in small teams of 5 each.

1. Is accommodation included?

Yes, student hostel accommodation at IIT Hyderabad is included as part of registration.

2. What type of accommodation will be provided?

Shared or single occupancy (Subjected to availability)  student hostel accommodation.

3. Can I request guest house accommodation instead?

Yes, subject to availability and prior request.

4. Are there additional charges for guest house accommodation?

Yes, guest house charges are separate and based on availability.

1. How do I apply?

Applications must be submitted through the official application form available on the programme website. Candidates will first apply for the entrance examination. Based on the selection results, shortlisted candidates will receive a formal confirmation email with further registration instructions. 

2. How are participants selected?

Based on application review and entrance examination.

3. What is the registration fee?

30000 INR+GST

4. Is there a refund policy?

1. Will I receive a certificate?

Yes, participants who meet attendance and project completion requirements will receive a certificate.

2. Is attendance mandatory?

Yes, full attendance is mandatory.
