Our demo aims to complete the task of Wiring and Insertion with two collaborated robotic arms. Our project is sponsored by BMW which ultimately aims to complete the fully automated wiring and routing tasks inside the car. This project has just started and has a period of ten years. This demo demonstrates that two robotic arms stably finish the tasks in a dynamic environment (trunk shape and insertion possible are not fixed). These two robotic arms have two cameras installed on their end-effectors. They move to two appropriate positions to observe the truck and socket. After that, two robotic arms grab both ends of the wire respectively and then perform the wiring task. After the wire is settled in the truck, the right robotic arm will perform the insertion task based on the location information perceived by its camera. The shape of the trunk and the position of the socket are both dynamic. Therefore, it requires these arms to do pattern recognition accordingly and perform the corresponding actions.
