Evaluating the Writing Development and Proficiency of EFL Learners Using Corpus Linguistic and Natural Language Processing Methods
Aim
This research attempts to design an automated grading system in L2 Writing exploiting corpus linguistic and natural language processing methods and tools. The project will detect the lexical errors and lexical sophistication of EFL learners in Turkey and try to measure to what extent these variables can predict the scoring of human raters with the help of a ‘Lexical Error Tagged Corpus of L2 Writing’ and ‘Lexical Sophistication Detection Program’. The detected algorithms will be used to design an automated grading of L2 writing software.
