2014 model of X-Trail was recalled due to manufacture issues, then until January 2016 there weren't any major issues with the Auto gear models except for the manual gear model issues. However manufacturer Nissan has rectified many of the identified major issues.
Although the whining noise when gear change in Nissan X-Trail Auto still exist and Nissan says it is harmless and normal. Sometimes the Carmakers produce cars with a known flaw. They sometimes judge that it’s not serious enough to do anything about.
* Some says change CVT oil or CVT oil flush and refill may make a difference.
People are afraid of the rumors and this is normal in any industry competition, but we as buyers need to search for the true facts...

Manufacturers, or importers, issue recalls for defects or faults which have the potential to cause injury. Generally, manufacturers will inform the original buyers if their vehicle is subject to a recall and of the steps required to remedy the defect or fault. The number of recalls should not be taken as an indication of a model's reliability or its safety more generally.
In December 2014, a recall was issued for Nissan T32 X-Trail vehicles that had VINs in the range JN1 TAAT32A 0000005 to JN1 TAAT32A 0000103. In these vehicles, the fuel pressure sensor may be insufficiently tightened to the fuel rail, and may loosen gradually due to heat and vibration of the engine. In some cases, fuel may leak between the fuel pressure sensor and the fuel rail. If the latter occurred in the presence of an external ignition source, a fire could result (PRA 2014/14464)
