I've retextured a sports car and I just wanted to know what I have to put in the config.cpp file to change the original 'sportscarhorn' sound to a custom sound file located in a 'sounds folder' within the new addon car folder.

A vehicle horn is a sound-making device installed on motor vehicles, trains, boats, and other types of vehicles. The horn is activated to warn others of the vehicle's presence or approach, or to call attention to some hazard. Motor vehicles, ships and trains are required by law in some countries to have horns. Trams, trollies, streetcars, and even bicycles are also legally required to have an audible warning device in many areas.

Modern car horns are usually electric, driven by a flat circular steel diaphragm that has an electromagnet acting on it in one direction and a spring pulling in the opposite direction. The diaphragm is attached to contact points that repeatedly interrupt the current to that electromagnet causing the diaphragm to spring back the other way, which completes the circuit again. This arrangement opens and closes the circuit hundreds of times per second, which creates a loud noise like a buzzer or electric bell, which sound enters a horn to be amplified.

In Japan, most modern trains like 209 series or E233 series from the first half of the 1990s onwards use electric horns as primary in passenger use. Although electric horns were used by Seibu 2000 series, air horns were primarily used until the 1990s. Modern Japanese trains may still be equipped with both air horns and electric horns.

Most modern streetcars, trams and trolley cars including low-floor vehicles around the world also employ horns or whistles as a secondary auditory warning signal in addition to the gong/bell which either use the sound of air horns or electric automobile car horns.

Various types of vehicle horns are used by percussionists as sound effects, or even melodically, in musical works. For example, George Gershwin's 1928 orchestral work An American in Paris calls for the use of 4 taxi horns.[4] Gyrgy Ligeti's opera Le Grand Macabre features two "Car Horn Preludes" scored for 12 bulb horns, each one tuned to a specific pitch.[5]

A klaxon is a type of an electromechanical horn or alerting device. Mainly used on cars, trains and ships, it produces an easily identifiable sound, often transcribed onomatopoeiacally in English as "awooga". Like most mechanical horns, it has largely been replaced by solid-state electronic alarms, though the memorable tone has persisted. Klaxon was originally a brand name.

The klaxon horn's characteristic sound is produced by a spring-steel diaphragm with a rivet in the center that is repeatedly struck by the teeth of a rotating cogwheel. The diaphragm is attached to a horn that acts as an acoustic transformer and controls the direction of the sound.[6]

Klaxons were first fitted to automobiles and bicycles in 1908. They were originally powered by six-volt dry cells, and from 1911 by rechargeable batteries. Later hand-powered versions were used as military evacuation alarms and factory sirens. They were also used as submarine dive and surface alarms beginning in the Second World War.

I don't know where to post this but there's this one commercial on the radio that ends with a hyperrealistic horn honk. It never fails to make my heart skip a beat because it sounds like someone right behind me is honking at me. They should ban this.

There's one thing that I always found comedically ironic about the horns in 7DTD Alpha 17, and that's the fact that the 4x4 truck has the same horn sound as the Minibike, which is to say, a little clown horn that heavily contrasts with the loud diesel roaring of that probably 6L Cummins engine crammed into the thing. I always thought that better horn sounds would include things like:

Trust me, I tried. For an entire day. THings refused to compile, the tools needed for the mod constantly crashed trying to just read the area where the sounds were packed, and I never was capable of getting close.

A little late to the game, but there's this modlet: "Khelldon-GetHorny" which changes the horns for the vehicles. It works with a17 and a18. If you don't want to use it as-is, and wanted to change the horn sounds, all you have to do is modify this modlet by making your own .unity3d files.

I have a post in a forum thread that hopefully explains how to take an audio file and convert it into a .unity3d file. Its really wordy but once you do it one time you see how its not that many steps. It may help to read all the posts in the thread by GuppyCur and Xyth as well: -7-days-to-die-pc/game-modification/discussion-and-requests/113656-adding-a-new-sound-to-game?p=1634018#post1634018

Mount your Loud Bicycle with peace of mind. Loud Bicycle security bolts require a special tool for removal (included), deterring theft, and keeping your horn safely fixed on your bike. Add any horn to your cart and get the corresponding security bolt package to keep your Loud Bicycle safe and sound.

The Loud Classic horn was our first generation product. The Loud Mini is the same volume but much lighter, smaller and easier to install. This horn got us started when we launched our first Kickstarter but we are no longer producing it.

Ok, so I've noticed sometimes when you spawn (whether it be reload or at the hospital) you might hear a car horn. If you try to chase the sound, you usually find it coming from inside a building. And unlike when a car crashes, this horn will go on forever until you leave. Anyone else notice this?

I first noticed this after I got killed near the hospital in Steinway. I respawned there and could hear the horn. I followed my ears to where it was loudest and it was near where I had been killed (in a firey, mulitcar explosion no less!). My guess is it's a glitch where a sound from an old car crash doesn't get turned off. It's kool and kreepy!

Speaking of which, I just love those moments where you cause a major traffic accident and then you notice a car horn still blaring -- where a dead driver is slumped over the wheel, sticking the horn... FATALITY!!! (mortal kombat voice)

I think I know what you are talking about. When I first heard it I thought it was my sound cables so I spent about 5 minutes trying to figure out if something was wrong. Then I moved away from the area and it went away. Weird.

My car (Suzuki Mehran) horn works only sometimes after many days and with very low sound. The problem started when I turned on car ac about a month ago. In start the horn sound became low whenever car ac was on. But now even without ac, the car horn rarely works with a very low sound.

Check to see how many volts the horn relay is sending to the horn. if it's less than ignition voltage at the horn either the relay is bad or you have a wiring problem. If you have ignition voltage at the horn make sure it's not touching anything and check for a good ground to the chassis. Otherwise replace the horn.

I am not old enough to know whether a T horn blast at another driver produced road rage or a hearty round of laughter, but it would be difficult for me to get angry if I was the object of an angry Model T horn blast. Too many years of Bugs Bunny cartoons have made that sound mission impossible for an angry outburst from me.

I guess the same could be applied to the Chihuahua sound of a small car horn. A beep-beep horn means a beep-beep sized car and it does not provoke anger unless the beep-beep driver leans on his horn without a break in the action.

The Plymouth Road Runner may have had a beep-beep horn, but it was very capable of settling scores on the street right out of the showroom. The rumble of the exhaust from these cars when they were in pedal-to-the-metal street battle mode probably rendered the beep-beep horn somewhat irrelevant in the bigger picture.

Most car guys still crave the big horn sound found in most North American cars from the golden post war era of the 40s, 50s, and 60s. These babies were noise-makers of the first order, and sounded like a slightly modified train horn on some cars.

I'm one of those crazy Gear Heads who's always loved horns and collects them off derelict vehicles , repairs them , up grades the horns on most every vehicle I own .Indeed , Junkyards are wonderful places to find old horns and here's a tip : pick two horns that sound nasty when tooted separately and they'll sound nice when tooted as a matched pair .I had an N.O.S. purple Road Runner horn until my then 18 Y.O. Son " borrowed " it and I never heard nor saw it again . FWIW , those were just cheap " Spartan " brand 12 volt forklift horns painted purple..." Klaxon " was a brand name for the motor driven horns .There's no excuse not to have a good sounding , _LOUD_ horn on your DD to wake those sleepy , texting or plain old brain dead soccer moms & kids up .-Nate

I remember back in '75 when my girlfriend's parents traded their beloved Chyrsler wagon for a Chevy - the thing that they hated was the horn. It sounded like a deep cow fart, kinda like whuuuuuup or something. I got a couple horns out of the salvage yard and problem solved. I really hate the wimpy beep beep horns of today, and if I had a few bucks to spend on vanity I would buy a replacement for my Camry and my daughters' Mazda 3.

If the fuse and the relay are good, there is a strong possibility that the horn itself is bad. In order to test that, you need to give it electricity. Connect a probe to the horn wire and use jumper wire to connect one of its ends on the positive battery terminal and the other one on the horn. While you are touching the horn with the other end of the jumper wire, make sure you do it quickly and remove the jumper wire from the horn immediately. This is important because, if the horn works, if will sound and scare the life out of you.

Though they appear to be rarely enforced, similar laws are on the books in 41 states, according to court records. A New York law bars drivers from sounding a car horn for anything other than as a "reasonable warning." Missouri admonishes drivers to use their horns "for warning purposes only." e24fc04721
