Swim lessons for kids on the autism spectrum

I am a high school art teacher, happily married with one lovely child. We consider ourselves lucky to have a unique, kind and beautiful daughter on the spectrum. As you know, every day is a new challenge, not just for us but also for those trying to understand her differences.

When I was looking for swim lessons for our daughter I was hard pressed to find anyone willing to work with special needs kiddos. Because of this, I decided to teach her myself. Now Sophia can not only swim, but I'm waiting for her to grow gills for as much as she wants to stay in the water.

One thing we know is that our kids LOVE water and most have no fear of jumping in. After hearing of several Autistic children drowning I was determined to do my part to not see this happen again in my community.
