This project’s research looks into corset-wear and shapewear products. The intention behind this project is to empower women to feel comfortable embracing their crevices, curves, and figures. Originally, corsets were a fashion product that restricted and oppressed women. Today, women’s shapewear can been seen as another form of restriction; however women are beginning to reclaim the garment and normalize it to embrace women’s bodies. The point of the fashion show is to be able to express women’s figures in clothing that makes them feel confident as well as combats societal norms instilled on society for women’s bodies.
