This Privacy Policy explains how Authenticator App - 2FA Auth ("Authenticator App", "the App", "we", "our", or "us"), developed and published by Novrix Technologies, accesses, uses, processes, and shares information when you use the App.
1. Information Collection and Use
The App is designed to generate two-factor authentication (2FA) codes entirely offline on your device.
The App does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal information.
All data you enter into the App — including service names, account names, and secret keys — is stored locally on your device only, using Android's encrypted storage (EncryptedSharedPreferences). This data never leaves your device and is never transmitted to any server operated by us or any third party.
When you uninstall the App, all your data is permanently deleted from your device.
2. Permissions We Request
The App requests the following permission:
Camera (android.permission.CAMERA) — Used only to scan QR codes when you choose to add a 2FA account by scanning. The camera feed is processed in real-time on your device. No images or video are stored, saved, or transmitted anywhere.
You may decline the camera permission. In that case, you can still add accounts manually by entering the secret key yourself.
3. How Your Data Is Used
Two-factor authentication codes are generated locally on your device using the industry-standard TOTP algorithm (RFC 6238).
Your secret keys are used only to compute codes on your device.
No code, no secret, and no account data is ever sent to any server.
The App does not require an internet connection to function.
4. Data Storage and Security
All account data is stored on your device using Android's EncryptedSharedPreferences, which encrypts data using AES-256.
The encryption key is managed by the Android Keystore system and never leaves your device.
The App does not maintain any server, database, or cloud storage for your data.
Uninstalling the App permanently removes all stored data.
5. Third-Party Services
The App does not use any third-party advertising networks, analytics SDKs, tracking tools, or crash-reporting services.
The App uses the following Android system libraries for core functionality:
Google ML Kit — for on-device QR code scanning (runs locally, does not transmit data)
AndroidX CameraX — for camera access (runs locally)
These libraries do not collect or transmit your personal information.
6. Children's Privacy
The App does not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13 years of age. If you are a parent or guardian and you believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take necessary action.
7. Log Files and Analytics
The App does not create or store any log files of your activity. No analytics, crash reports, or usage statistics are collected or transmitted.
8. Advertising
The App does not display advertisements and does not include any advertising SDKs.
9. Opt-Out Rights
You can stop all collection and use of your data at any time by uninstalling the App. You may use the standard uninstall process available on your Android device or through the Google Play Store.
10. Data Retention Policy
We do not retain any of your data on any server. All data is stored locally on your device and is deleted when you uninstall the App or clear the App's data from your device settings.
11. Security
We are committed to protecting the confidentiality of your information. Because your data is stored only on your device and encrypted with AES-256, your secrets remain under your control at all times.
However, please note that no method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we use industry-standard encryption, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Important: You are responsible for keeping your device secure (screen lock, PIN, biometric). If your device is compromised, your stored 2FA secrets may be at risk.
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. You will be notified of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
This Privacy Policy is effective as of October 1, 2026.
