This Privacy Policy explains how Authenticator ("we", "our", or "the App") handles information when you use our mobile application.
We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your information. The App is designed primarily to provide authentication services locally on your device.
The App allows you to create and manage two-factor authentication (2FA) accounts, including information such as:
Account names
Issuer names
Authentication secret keys
One-time passwords (OTP/TOTP codes)
QR code information used to set up authentication accounts
This information is primarily stored locally on your device and is used only to provide the authentication functionality of the App.
We do not require you to create an account or provide your name, email address, phone number, or other personal information to use the core features of the App.
The App may request access to your device's camera so you can scan QR codes when adding an authentication account.
Camera access is used only for QR-code scanning.
We do not use the camera to:
Record videos
Take photographs for unrelated purposes
Monitor you
Collect biometric information
QR-code information is processed for the purpose of adding your authentication account.
Authentication information may be stored locally on your device so that your accounts and authentication codes remain available when you use the App.
We do not intentionally upload your authentication secrets or OTP codes to our servers as part of the core authentication functionality.
If you uninstall the App or clear its application data, locally stored information may be deleted depending on your device's operating system behavior.
The core authentication functionality may operate without an internet connection.
An internet connection may be used for optional services such as:
Advertising
App updates
Other features that may be introduced in future versions
The availability of these services may change as the App develops.
We may display advertisements in the App in the future.
Advertising services may be provided by third-party advertising providers such as Google AdMob.
When advertising is enabled, advertising providers may collect or process certain information automatically, which may include:
Advertising identifiers
Device information
IP address
Approximate location derived from IP address
App and advertising interaction information
Diagnostic and performance information
The information collected by advertising providers is subject to their own privacy policies and terms.
We do not sell your authentication secrets, OTP codes, or authentication account information to advertisers.
Where required by applicable law, we will provide appropriate choices or consent mechanisms regarding personalized advertising.
The App may use third-party services to provide certain functionality, including advertising, analytics, crash reporting, or other technical services.
When such services are used, the relevant third-party providers may process information according to their own privacy policies.
For example, if Google AdMob is integrated into the App, Google's privacy practices will apply to information processed through its advertising services.
We take reasonable measures to protect information stored by the App.
Because authentication secrets can provide access to your online accounts, you should protect your device with an appropriate screen lock, PIN, password, or biometric security.
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your device and authentication information.
No method of electronic storage or transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
We do not intentionally share your authentication secrets, OTP codes, or authentication account information with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.
If third-party services are enabled, certain technical or advertising-related information may be processed by those providers as necessary to provide their services.
The App is not specifically directed toward children.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the core functionality of the App.
If you believe that a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us so that we can take appropriate action.
You can control certain information and permissions through your device settings.
Depending on your device and the features enabled in the App, you may be able to:
Disable camera access
Reset advertising identifiers
Limit personalized advertising
Remove authentication accounts from the App
Uninstall the App
Disabling certain permissions or services may affect some App functionality.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the App, our services, or applicable legal requirements.
When we make changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this Privacy Policy.
We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
